Sorry about that, but a small UCL reminds me of RA Dickey not having a UCL. And it's part of the reason the Astros don't want to pay that big bonus.

Shady dealings like this in the Astros organization is going to leave them significantly behind the Angels, A's, Rangers and Mariners in the AL West. They need new ownership.. Jim Crane is going to run that team into the ground.. I mean, this ownership makes 29 other teams look like well-run orgs.

And this is the 2nd time their #1 pick has had issues.. Mark Appel from last year's draft has a 9.57 ERA/1.964 WHIP in A+ ball, and Carlos Correa got hurt, although had he not gotten injured, he'd be on the fast track.

BTW, Woj is struggling in AAA with a 6.75 ERA and a 2.00 WHIP. So far, NONE of the prospects we gave up for JA Happ have amounted to anything.

And this has nothing to do with the Jays.. it doesn't affect us.

Did you just post the MLBTR article without even reading it at all?

"Close, Aiken’s agent, told Rosenthal that his client “has been seen by some of the most experienced and respected orthopedic arm specialists in the country, and all of those doctors have acknowledged that he’s not injured and that he’s ready to start his professional career.”

"Drellich spoke with an expert orthopedist — Dr. Chris Geary of the Tufts Medical center, apparently not among those who have seen Aiken — who tells him that a congenitally small UCL would not necessarily indicate a greater risk of a UCL tear or lowered success rate if a TJ procedure became necessary."

Regardless, they'd better sign Aiken. Houston fans are threatening to stop watching the Astros if they screw up with Brady Aiken here, and it could be an issue in the next CBA.

No one watches the Astros right now anyways. What s*** are you even posting right now?

Guelph native Scott Diamond signs with the Reds. Good team to pick.. Cincy isn't exactly swimming with depth in the minors (and before anyone says anything, Cingrani is on the DL). Considering Holmberg's terrible start in the MLB recently, Diamond will likely get a callup if we see an injury in Cincy's rotation.

The Astros should already be an issue with the CBA lol. They're making a mockery of the sport and are straight mooching off the other 29 teams in the process. The Astros Way is an abomination.

The Edmonton Oilers model. It tends to fail, because the type of management to finish at/near the bottom for multiple seasons is typically not the type of management to build a winner, even with top picks. That's why I'm worried that Houston will succeed. They seem to have a decent FO, just one with no interest in winning ball games right now.

Wainwright shouldn't have said anything.

I wasn't paying attention at the time, could you tell me what happened/what he said?

Basically, He admitted to the media he gave up meatballs to Jeter for him to get a hit, then everyone freaked out, he spoke to some reporter next and apologized profusely saying "it's a misunderstanding, I didn't actually want him to get a hit." etc

Okay I just saw it on Sportsnet and plus what you said, which confirms my conspiracy theory!

God it's really not that big of a deal. Peavy threw a straight fastball right down the middle of the plate in bonds final AB with San fran. This s*** happens all the time how much you wanna bet ripken had help with his homer in the ASG? Fans didn't wanna see Jeter strikeout, and if you did you either jealous of all of Jeters success or your not a fan of baseball history.

"Stephen Strasburg .... wasn't he the pitcher we were all waiting for? We're still waiting."

I'm sorry Mr writer that Strasburg only has 7 wins so far this year, clearly he's not performing very well. Hope he can turn things around!

*facepalm*

It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. He gave a few facts to argue his opinion. He is right about viewership and attendance being down.

I still would say there are more "must watch stars" in the game today then there was 10 years ago. There are BBWAA award writers that have written worse articles.

Was mainly referring to that one line... Strasburg easily one of the best starters.

He is, but the writer is kinda right in that you don't really hear about him too much. I would say he is one of the best starters in the game but the hype was way too much to ever live up to. If he played in Boston or New York I am sure we would hear about him more.

Royals Acquire Jason Frasor

Just thought about the Frasor-Werth trade

Thought we lost that

Fangraph confirms

Sigh

There was no need for Ricciardi to make that deal

Very very nice career that looks a lot better due to longevity. He's had 4 or 5 seasons that you can say were HOF worthy, otherwise he was hardly a dominant player. Defensively he's been pretty bad his whole career. He'll still go down as probably the most overrated athlete in the history of sports. At least LeBron and Brady/Manning put up monster numbers year after year to warrant such praise. Jeter is not even close to that type of performer, and it's been sickening to watch this garbage all year. I say f*** him.

As far as Strasburg goes, no doubt one of best starters in league but he's definitely #2 to a Kershaw. So depends what standard you hold him to.

Also, lol @ pitcher projections that had Kershaw as like a 3-something WAR guy pre-season. He had avg'd like 6.5 the last 3 seasons and was going into prime... So he's hit 3.7 at the break while missing like 4-6 weeks?

Gallo smashes windows...but Stanton smashes hands.

Can we figure out exit speed by damage 450 feet away Nox?

Ran the numbers. Exit velo came out to be: f***ing Fast. Alan Nathan confirms.

Price and Zobrist could be Mariners soon.

Mariners, Rays Discussing David Price, Ben Zobrist

By Jeff Todd [July 17, 2014 at 2:10pm CDT]

Though no deal is imminent, the Mariners have been engaged in ongoing discussions with the Rays regarding lefty David Price and utilityman Ben Zobrist, reports Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter links). Meanwhile, talks have stalled with the Phillies regarding Marlon Byrd.

Needless to say, Price and Zobrist both represent potential impact to contenders. Either player could presumably add value to just about every roster in baseball. That holds particularly true for Seattle, which could not only pair Price with current ace Felix Hernandez but would be able to play Zobrist at shortstop, outfield, or even first base.

#Rays called up Curt Casali from Triple-A Durham. Wil Myers was moved to the 60-day DL to make room on the 40-man roster.
