jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Red Sox offense is SO bad, they're getting 1 hit by Scott Carroll and the White Sox pen. WTF?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Red Sox offense is SO bad, they're getting 1 hit by Scott Carroll and the White Sox pen. WTF? I'd like to laugh at this but our offense has been equally inept as of late

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Chris Davis just homered.. sh**. 4-2 O's.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Guys, ignore your Orioles hatred for just one second and watch this swing by Davis. http://m.mlb.com/video/v34382811/balwsh-davis-belts-a-goahead-homer-in-the-11th/?c_id=mlb Jesus. Edit: I'm well aware that this doesn't even crack his top 20 in effortless swings but still, dat swing.
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Gibby is a team player - he knows his time will come & if that means AA fires him for the sake of AA attempting to blame some/most of this on Gibby to the casual fan, then Gibby will take it in stride... whatever happens to Gibby, I will say this - he imo loves the organization/blue jays & likely wouldn't want to be anywhere else...
Nox Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 His comments after last nights game should have put it over the top. What did he say?
bowld Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Firing Gibby would be a good thing IMO. This team needs a wake up call and fast. Maybe that would light a fire under some of these clowns. I am still pissed about Rasmus' lack luster effort throwing home last night. Flat footed and lazy as hell

Maybe that would light a fire under some of these clowns. I am still pissed about Rasmus' lack luster effort throwing home last night. Flat footed and lazy as hell The Jays had a 6 game lead and haven't made the playoffs in 21 years. If they need to fire the manager in order to provide them a wakeup call, then that should tell you everything you need to know about the roster that AA has assembled. Gibbons is not the problem. The lack of offensive depth is the problem. And Reyes. Reyes is also the problem.
Nox Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 And Reyes. Reyes is also the problem. 14:$16M, 15:$22M, 16:$22M, 17:$22M, 18:$22M club option ($4M buyout) Ladies and Gentlemen, our new Vernon Wells!! Someone get Reagins on the phone.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 14:$16M, 15:$22M, 16:$22M, 17:$22M, 18:$22M club option ($4M buyout) This makes me very, very, very, very sad. Maybe the Yankees need a shortstop in the post-Jeter era? Their fanbase is already used to that kind of range.
bowld Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Since June 1st- Orioles: 22-13 Rays: 18-18 Yankees: 16-18 Blue Jays: 14-20 Red Sox: 13-21 Orioles have to come back down to earth and we will start wining some games. Right???
shortstop Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Bow, Would like to think so but O's are likely playing at their potential...so don't see them faltering much assuming status quo They've been healthy relatively - things get interesting if a solid player or two go down... That's why I see Duquette having the green light from ownership to grab 1-2 position players & a pitcher...not only for September run but also better depth in case of injuries
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 We're not even into the $22M zone yet. Damn it. And AA was talking recently about extending Reyes?! Oh comon don't promote this half truth crap. He was directly asked about how he would keep the team competitive past the contract window of Bautista/Reyes/E5. Do you think he would say absolutely not? That Bautista will not be a Jay in x years, the same with Edwin/Reyes? How would the players react to that? Of course he's going to be open-ended. That's out of respect for the players. That doesn't mean he's going to do it.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Phillies Notes: Offense, Franco, Papelbon, Burnett, Lee By*Steve Adams*[July 8, 2014 at 11:18am CDT] Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. offered a frank assessment of his team’s offense*to reporters, including CSNPhilly.com’s Jim Salisbury: “I didn’t anticipate our guys being this poor. Because they are. They are this poor. We think that they’re better. But they haven’t shown it. So at some point we’re going to have to make some changes.” Amaro listed*Darin Ruf,*Grady Sizemore*and*Freddy Galvis*as possible players who could be recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley, and he wouldn’t rule out top prospect*Maikel Franco*either. When referring to Franco, he noted that Franco can also play first base, indicating perhaps that the struggling* Ryan Howard*could see his playing time diminish.Matt Gelb of the Philadelphia Inquirer reminds*that last season, one of the reasons Amaro gave for not wanting to shop*Jonathan Papelbon*was a lack of a clear replacement. That excuse is no longer valid, Gelb writes, due to the emergence of*Ken Giles. The 23-year-old Giles has dominated Major League hitters in his first 11 2/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with 17 strikeouts. Papelbon, who is pitching as well as he ever has in a Phillies uniform, could be moved if the Phils kick in $13MM to cover his potential vesting option, Gelb opines.ESPN’s Jim Bowden*(Insider subscription required)*feels that the Orioles are the most logical landing place*for*A.J. Burnett*in a trade. Bowden writes that while Pittsburgh and Cleveland make some sense, both are long shots. He also speculates on what it would cost each team to acquire Burnett. Cliff Lee*is now slated to return after the All-Star break because one of his rehab outings was delayed by rain,*according to a report from ESPN’s Jayson Stark. Stark has previously reported that rival clubs expect the Phillies to aggressively shop Lee upon his return, though with a July 19 return target, he’d only have roughly three starts to impress.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Rather amusing article about Prince Fielder (aside from the pictures): http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/page/bodyfielderqa/texas-rangers-prince-fielder-takes-all-espn-magazine-body-issue One quote in particular: I got some nice 22s. My dad has big arms, and everyone in my family has them, so it's just normal in my house. I had them when I was younger too, but obviously there was a little more cholesterol behind them [laughs]. They've always been big, just needed to fill them out with some solid stuff in there.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Would you rather have Michael Taylor or Darrin Mastroianni? No. I'd rather have good players who can play 150+ games per year and not have to live off platoons.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 No. I'd rather have good players who can play 150+ games per year and not have to live off platoons. Just asking because Michael Taylor cleared waivers at one point but AA was still commited to Sierra at the time. I think I'd rather have Taylor over Mastroianni but whether either is actually good enough to fill a need is highly debattable. I wish AA would do something soon.
