More on Johan Santana: Jays were one of the teams in attendance. He hasn't been able to build his arm strength back up again yet (hence the reason for the lower velocity), but appeared to be in great shape and stuff was as expected at this point in his recovery.

Oh man, I love me some Joey Votto, (from a Cincy call-in show)

e: I can't believe fans actually rag on that guy.

Votto has the makeup to be an unreal hitting coach lol

Seriously if the Cincy fans are that unappreciative of him, we can take himn off their hands.

Does he have a no trade clause? (probably)

A good ole' Etobicoke guy like him would waive it for the Blue Jays right?

He might out WAR dickey this season lol

I'm rooting for him. In my heart, Syndergaard and D'Arnaud are still our guys. I'm not going to let AA ruin that for me. I really hope I can cheer for both of them in Montreal.

As I'm sure you know, not so much. Has openly stated that he has zero interest in playing for the Jays

Would he block a trade? No idea. But it ain't happening anyway.

Oh yeah you're going? Me too. Hope to see them both in action.

Yeah, it seems like he dosn't think very highly of the Jays org although I'm not sure how that started. I'd like to think that there's a least some sentimental attachment to the uniform that could sway him in a trade scenario. I might as well believe that since it's entirely hypothetical anyways.

It's a shame Reddick is such a garbage hitter because he would be a monster with any kind of offense.

Are you talking about Gose?

It's a shame GOSE is such a garbage hitter and that HE MAKES SO MANY OUTS ON THE BASES because he could be a monster WITH SOMETHING RESSEMBLING AN ALL AROUND GAME.

He can't hit for average but his plate discipline did improve last year, and his power numbers should have a rebound as long his wrist issues have been taken care of. Very solid player.

Zack Grienke left the Dodgers game after 4 pitches with an injury.. this bears watching. Even with LA's depth, they can't afford to lose him (or Kershaw).

Of course, the only possible replacement is Julio Urias, who looked better than decent last year. But remember that he is only 16 and in Lo-A, but keep in mind that the Dodgers have no other alternatives, with they're payroll being completely maxed out due to Puig breaking so many bats and those bats are really expensive. It's not completely two outrageous to believe that Puig will get a broken bat splinter in his eye and end his season prematurely. The Dodgers will have absolutely know hope with him on the shelf.

Of course when Urias gets lit up in his first few starts, the Jays will acquire him for David Copper, Kyle Drabek and Sean Nolin just to make it fair. Urias will become accustomed to MLB hitters and would be reasonably projected to post up a sub 3.00 FIP

Excuse you, Urias will post a sub-2.00 FIP and pitch 250 IP, thank you.

And then his arm will fall off

I will kindly thank you to shut your goddamn whore mouth, my good sir.

Really hope it doesn't hurt him to lose this year of development, he could easily have been up with the Twins at some point. Shouldn't be a huge issue long term since that type of surgery doesn't cost hitters like it does pitchers.

Atlanta and Washington might run out of pitchers today. 15-12 in the bottom of the 6th with 1 out and the bases loaded. Washington batting. Atlanta put up 9 in the 5th, has 20 hits overall. Washington has 9 hits and has committed 4 errors.

Apparently some concern about CC Sabathia's velocity this spring (although it's too early for them to be really worried). He's topping out at 88mph.

Gotta love his response:

“My fastball is what it is. If it gets better, it will. If it’s not, it won’t,”

CC's avg velocity has dropped just over 1 MPH each of the last 2 seasons... this would follow suit with that downward trend, considering it's still ST and he should be able to notch up a couple before season starts
