Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 How about Arencibia's -44 wRC+ in 66 Sept/Oct PAs? His K% was almost three times higher than his OBP. Damn that is some impressive out-making ability. I knew he was awful, but I didn't know he was 11 wRC+ in the 2nd half awful.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 I said they were both just as valid a position based on a SSS, not equally ridiculous. Regardless, the point is that pointing to a guy's stats in a (VERY) small sample size is idiotic, as you can find examples of horrible stretches for even the best player on the planet. It's just stupid to keep repeatedly bringing it up and laughing at him for it, while trying to draw a conclusion off of it. Sorry, bit of a pet peeve for me. That's the thing. I'm pretty sure that King isn't using that as the basis for his opinion, and more as a talking point.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 That's the thing. I'm pretty sure that King isn't using that as the basis for his opinion, and more as a talking point. You sure? As the league adjusted after his first 30 PAs, he began to slow down to a tune of a 33 wRC+ over his next 90 PAs. Its up to Goins to make the improvements and adjustments with his bat so that he isn't a 33 wRC+ guy going forward, otherwise he will be headed for the Japan leagues.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 You sure? In the Ryan Goins thread he used Goins' MiLB numbers to reach a conclusion, I believe, but I guess King needs to clarify. This is a great way to not do my paper.

kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 You sure? Made me think of this.

kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 No, god damnit, you're supposed to be distracting me. What topic is your paper on?
SAAviour Verified Member Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Ryan f***ing goins must be the most talked about player ever talked about on this forum. I believe ryan goins and his John McDonald stick is an upgrade over the s*** show of izturis and Boni that we witnessed last year. I swear I'd take him over those two if he went hit less all season, and i was a huge fan of picking up Boni at the time when we did.....f***in hate the guy now though. Bring in 2 top quality pitchers, along with the upgrade we have of dumping JP and Boni, and I believe we have a shot next year. We can always upgrade 2nd base at the deadline when/if we're actually in the race.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 What topic is your paper on? It's not really a *paper.* It's a 4 page report along with a poster (i'm not artistic in the least) for physical geography, and then a 30 mark assignment for french, then a math midterm tomorrow, so the best thing to do? ARGUE ABOUT RYAN GOINS! My teacher said she didn't care how we format the report, as long as it's 4 pages. Hehe. There's her first mistake.

I'm about three pages into a 10 page extragalactic astrophysics research paper. The formatting is fairly loose for the paper, but it has to be a 12-pt font, with 10 full pages of text (figures come after), an additional half-page abstract, and half a page for responses to questions we were asked after a 20-minute oral presentation we gave earlier this week.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Font size 14/16, spacing 3 (lol) Size 13 Arial and double spaced atm is proving fairly easy. Now if I could get off the board and facebook and focus I'd be golden lol School is easy but I'm lazy That doesn't sound so bad. GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 lol 2.5 (in normal space) page geo paper aint that hard... just hammer it out an hour before midnight Yeah that's what I'm planning on lol. It's not hard I just hate geo.
kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 wha how why no stop That's messed up, man. Nope, it's grad school. Boreal Plain. More like boring plain, amirite? http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/101/771/1879f18e_e542_e1c6.jpg
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 Yeah that's what I'm planning on lol. It's not hard I just hate geo. You and me both. Why'd you select the course tho?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Nope, it's grad school. More like boring plain, amirite? Oh god ew. It's pretty f***ing boring. You and me both. Why'd you select the course tho? Because it's mandatory. I should've taken academic though. I'm pulling a high 70 in gifted geo as my lowest mark but I'd be getting high 80 in academic. History will be better next year. Wanted to take law but you need a history prerequisite for it.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Pretty sure everyone would say that Goins is an MLB ready glove/benchman... The problem is handing him the starting job when we're supposed to contend... Shocked that this is still being argued. Doesn't every team's FO pretty much give a positive spin on their team to their fans about the upcoming season? So I'm not really sure where this we're supposed to contend is coming from. Is it coming from you being spoon-fed what the media has slopped on your plate, or did you really think this team last year or this was a contender?
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 wha how why no stop That's messed up, man. Boreal Plain. Sometimes I forget how young you are. 10 pages in university is nothing, especially double spaced, I had 1-4 lab reports due each week that were that long.

GeorgiaPeach Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 You're only in grade 9? Damn There's no way GD is 14
DuckDuckGose Verified Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 There's no way GD is 14 Pretty sure he is 15 but same s***. He's one of the younger frequent posters.
NorthOf49 Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Goodness I thought GD was in Grade 12, as old as Fatcow. He knows way more about baseball than I did when I was 14. Which was quite a bit... I ran a class fantasy baseball pool in Grade 9 lol. I had to write a 20-page work report for this term (I'm on co-op), but the formatting was crazy generous: Double-spaced, four cm margins and eight pages of fluff (title page, letter to my coordinator, table of contents, list of figures, summary, introduction, references and an appendix). Hammered it out in one weekend.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 There's no way GD is 14 In Ontario, Geography's only a prerequisite in grade 9, and History's a prerequisite in grade 10. He's taking Geo this year and History next year.... he's in grade 9 lol
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
