I know he's more of a utility man, but he has a decent bat and the dodgers are considering him for 3b. But, anyone see him as a fit as our 2b? I

Michael Young now is awful.

I'd see him more as a Derosa replacement. DH against lefties, play the infield in a pinch. He seems to have an inflanted opinion of himself though so I'd be worried that he'd want too much money and expect too much playing time. Derosa with a massive ego. Pass.

f*** Not

Young will be the LAD's 3B.

No way, we need personal under 30 who can shore up the D to help our s***** rotation.

This is not a contender, it's going to take more then a few upgrades at SP, 2B, and DH and I would rather see youth get a chance (Goins) then sign an plug who is past his best by date

The poor defense would kill us.

His defense has gone downhill for the last 4 years and isn't good enough on grass . It would be unbearable to watch on Turf .

No way. He hasn't had a positive WAR since 2011. And it's uncertain how he'd do at 2B--he hasn't had significant playing time as a middle infielder since he was moved from SS in 2008.

If we want a steady defensive option with some upside, how about Brian Roberts? I can't imagine the price being more than 5 million. The speed is no longer there and the injury risk is high but he'll make the plays in the field and get on base.

He has averaged less than 50 games a year over the last four years. That is not really helpful at all as a guy you'd want to make your starting 2B.

I mean, it makes sense if AA realizes he definitely has no other options but Goins for 2B, has filled all his other holes and still has a few million to spend. Then you could roll the dice and if he gets hurt you are just in the same situation you would have been anyway. You need to explore all the other options first though.

Would a guy who has had a bunch of leg injuries want to play on turf though? I can't imagine it unless we are offering much more than anyone else. So probably a moot point.

Well if the plan is to go with Goins/Izturis, the. Rolling the dice on Roberts and having both as contingency plans is better than nothing I guess.

It's worth noting that his time missed was almost completely due to post concussion symptoms and not leg issues. Not to say he hasn't had problems, but he was pretty agile out there last season.
