All he said was that Rasmus was on the Royals board... That doesn't mean anything; they could (and probably do) have more than a hundred names on the same list.

Right. And even if they only have 3 names it doesn't mean he'll be able to come up with a package AA will accept.

This guy is a moderator on another pretty big forum, so more than likely isn't just trolling. Funny they would delete such a comment if posted there though!

If you're referring to me, that's incorrect.

Not sure what to make of Rasmus still. He's now had two good seasons with the bat, and in both he increased his K-Rate to over 27% and got carried by a high BABIP (over .350). In the two seasons in between his K-rate sat in the 23% range and he carried a .260ish BABIP. The differences in his line drive rates aren't really that huge. He's obviously a mental midget and struggles when he's asked to change his approach. Just let him be Gump.

Guys like Rasmus are basically why projection systems exist. He's probably not a 130 wRC+ player, but he's also not a 90 wRC+ player. 3 wins and a 110 mark sounds pretty flipping reasonable for a 2014 guess.

He could also hit 40 homers and drop 6 WAR, or he could strikeout 40% of the time and quit baseball. Who knowwwwwwws. Extremely volatile skill set offensively. But the defensive chops make his production not so volatile (even when he sucked in 2012, he was a 1 win contributor).

So at worst, he's Anthony Gose like.

What are you suggesting here lol.

Haha, I was just looking at the start to Cano's career and it reminded me a lot of Rasmus' (just looking at WAR).

Age/Cano/Colby

22 0.2 2.6

23 2.5 4.0

24 4.8 0.5

25 0.1 1.1

26 4.0 4.8

Obviously it doesn't mean anything. Well, I guess you could argue that Cano demonstrates what Colby's ~98th percentile 4 year projections might look like.

Are you the Rasmus agent?

f***.........You're Tony Rasmus!!!

Anyone else have no memory at all of Cano's 0-WAR 2008 season?

*Raises hand*

Then again, I have a hard time remembering what I ate yesterday, so that might not mean much.

*IF* the Jays were to trade Rasmus (and I hope they don't), I'd really want Hosmer coming back in the deal. Perhaps AA could even add Lind to a deal to bring back another good player, since I'm sure that Rasmus has more value than Hosmer, present-time. It'd be awesome to get a solid starter, but I don't know that the two teams really match up well there.

I doubt the Royals would want to trade Hosmer with him not going to free agency until 2018.

I agree with you.

I doubt the Jays would be interested in Hosmer unless the plan is to move Edwin, which is even less likely. The only pieces KS has that The Jays should be interested in are Shields, Perez and Zimmer; I can't see a deal being made here at all.

What about Billy Butler? I wouldn't give much more than Lind for him though. Would make the lineup rather righty heavy though.
