SAAviour Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Did I miss this posted somewhere from mlbtraderumors: The Mariners, Dodgers, Angels, Pirates, Rangers, Diamondbacks and Blue Jays all have interest in David Price and believe they could put together a strong enough package to convince the Rays to deal him, Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan writes. The Mariners would be especially interested in Price if they also acquire Robinson Cano, and they might be willing to include Taijuan Walker to make a deal happen, Passan reports. Earlier today, Mariners GM Jack Zduriencik told the Tacoma News Tribune's Bob Dutton, "[A]lways have felt there would be a time where we have to augment this club. I think we’re at that time" (Twitter link). Price has two years remaining before free agency, and MLBTR projects he'll make $13.1MM in the arbitration process this winter. The Rays aren't in a position where they must trade him, Passan points out, so they won't be desperate in negotiations. They could target a big-league-ready pitcher to step into Price's place in their rotation, Passan reports, and one would think that Walker, one of baseball's top young starters, would fit the bill. Walker, 21, posted a 2.93 ERA with 10.2 K/9 and 3.6 BB/9 in 141 1/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A in 2013 before making three starts at the big-league level.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Stroman and Sanchez are the starting points, plus 2 more prospects. If it only takes one of the 2 I'm in, for both ++ I'm out.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 NO, GOD NO Tai Walker available = Jays are out
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Question is who does the Rays play at third if they get Lawrie?
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 No thank you, too big of a price.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 If the Jays trade anything substantial for a SP at this point after he confirmed on air that the Jays inquired about Fister, im going to lose it.
Vdubfan Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 The M's desperation I hope is something AA is willing to exploit. They have a GM who NEEDS to win, and a fan base who NEEDS to gain interest in the team again. I have been hoping for dome type of Bautista for Walker/Franklin package. Put the Bau $$ into a FA OF. Having Price in TO would be sweet, but I'd dread that cost. Plus, he's actually scoring good money the next 2 years through arb, so he isn't ridiculously cost effective either. In 2 years, we'd either pay him 23/year, or let him walk. Say NO AA
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 NO, GOD NO Tai Walker available = Jays are out If the M's trade Walker for Price, that GM should get canned ASAP
admin Site Manager Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 A deal with the Rays? We'd be looking at Sanchez, Stroman, Osuna, Norris to start.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Pun intended? I love puns. Just saw that now, sure

Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Id trade for Price in a heartbeat.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Would be very surprised to see Tampa deal Price inside the division.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Not if it's Stroman+Sanchez for two years of Price. Terrible trade. I'd do that trade.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 We need to trade for someone more controllable. AA says he's in on guys who aren't publicly known to be available. If one of those guys has 2+ years of control and is young, get him. Not Price. Like -------------> Carlos Rodon? We need Tanaka and Colon
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I'd do that trade. Don't do it AA!
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 M's GM trying to be the Moore/AA of this off season, maybe AA can redeem himself to an extent by screwing him in a trade.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 M's GM trying to be the Moore/AA of this off season, maybe AA can redeem himself to an extent by screwing him in a trade. Franklin for Sierra.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Franklin for Sierra. I'd be happy with Ackley for Sierra, but if it's Franklin....haha. Thames trade 2.0

KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 I'd be happy with Ackley for Sierra, but if it's Franklin....haha. Thames trade 2.0 That would be way better than the Thames trade.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Not gonna get Price and that's OK
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 That would be way better than the Thames trade. Oh I know, but it will hopefully become a series, imagine what Thames trade 3.0 would look like...Happ for Walker!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Passan: Rival officials told Yahoo Sports the Rays aren't necessarily inclined to go strictly for a package of young players, either. Were a team to offer an established major league player with a team-friendly contract as the headliner, the Rays have indicated they would consider that sort of a deal as well.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted December 5, 2013 Author Posted December 5, 2013 Rays/jays/mariners three way including Bautista and price. Rays can't afford Bautista.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Bautista, EE I shudder at the thought of either of them in a Rays uniform
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 5, 2013 Posted December 5, 2013 Rays/jays/mariners three way including Bautista and price. Rays can't afford Bautista. Yes Mariners get Bautista We get Price Rays get...
