Christ, I hope that's just posturing.

Can you imagine us rolling into the season with Goins/Izturis and Lind/Sierra platoons? Season will be over before it began.

I'm trying to picture it, and I'm having a serious problem maintaining an erection.

I heard Goins is a very good second baseman at least a 2 war player.

Pretty interesting that AA is giving anything away. He's never said a single word about possible trades before. Feeling the pressure I bet.

He said he was comfortable with JPA as the starting catcher, and that seems to have been pure posturing. Hard to say.

He also said that at the start of the season, and followed through with it.

It's flat out the wrong move. We're replacement-level at 2B and it absolutely should be addressed before the rotation.

I'm ok with Goins-Izturis

Tanaka, Garza and Colon

Am I the only who laughed at the title of this thread?

I just caught that now.

I dont understand why he wants to trade assets for starters when he can just sign oneb

Must think they won't sign here :(

I heard Goins is basically as good as Brandon Phillips.

Only if you, you know, project him over a whole season

That one game he had like 3 hits...if you extrapolate that over a whole season, Goins is basically the best 2B of all time.

JP debut 4-5, 2 dingers ----------------> HOF for sure

The Shark?

Who else?

I hope he's looking into Skaggs after the Cespedes deal fell through.

That is interesting. We know that AA wants someone who can make 30+ starts and doesn't have injury questions. Shark pretty much has to be one. Assuming Iwakuma is out of play (we know AA likes him), maybe Lynn or Chacin, or even Gio. Never know if the Giants are having second thoughts about Cain either.

I dont understand why he must trade assets

I really think he doesn't have the money and/or is afraid he'll get burned if he does give out free agent contracts

He must be afraid of another Wells-like situation happening and therefore won't even approach a contract that even has a chance of becoming a sinkhole via FA. Hell, signing Garza to a four year deal worth 15 per season wouldn't be a bad contract and I highly doubt he gets something better than that this year. The problem is, we honestly don't know what kind of a premium TO would have to pay to land those guys. We can sit here and think all we want that money talks and players go where the money is every time, but there is just no way that a player, right now, would choose TO as a destination over a better team if the money and years are similar. There's all kinds of perceived problems and real problems that TO has to deal with in every pro sport that isn't hockey when it comes to attracting premier talent through free agency.

TO would have to add multiple guaranteed years or a higher AAV, and there comes a point where that doesn't make sense.

He is not a good GM, this is his fifth year and I can safely say JPR left much more in the cupboard and had success than AA has done

Cellar dwellers again, getting use to our new home

Are you JP Ricciardi's lover or something? The Jays haven't had anything close to a Carlos Delgado or Roy Halladay type of home grown prospect for a decade and JPR's s***** drafting and player development is front and center in that. He did a half decent job on the free agent market, not much else.
