saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Another good move by the Sox I find it funny how people have no concerns about a 37 year old Peirzynski playing catcher and having regression.....but Dickey at 39 throwing a knuckleball is a massive worry due to his advanced age lol....seriously...you could throw a knuckleball until your 60..
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I was being sarcastic well I wasn't sure...and to be honest AJ will likely post an .800 OPS because everything seems to always work out for the yanks and sox..
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Yankees: McCann Red Sox: Pierzynski Blue Jays: Navarro Rangers: Arencibia

Key22 Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Once again teams who were already better than us sign VASTLY better players at the same position. To gain ground the Jays will have to start the season with a better overall pitching staff who will put up a better team ERA than Boston or the Yankees. Time will tell but so far it doesn't look to good. Do a position by position analysis - mainly of the starting rotation. Eeesh - AA is going to need some serious pitching - and there isn't enough on the FA market I'm afraid.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Yeah Do they keep Salty too?? They have AJ and David Ross now, so I don't see them having a use for Salty. I could see Salty landing with the White Sox.

The difference (on offense) between Peirzynski and Navarra isn't that much. A couple of homers, a couple of doubles and 10 singles per 500 at bats. Pierzynsky is better. Navarra is 7 years younger. They are actually not that different as hitters. Pierzynsky has played longer and been healthier. Navarra doesn't strike out that much... there are reasons to believe his true talent could be closer to 2008/2013 numbers then the crap he put up in between. Overall, given age and total track record I don't see any reason to prefer one over the other. As an outsider it looks like a coin flip.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Author Posted December 3, 2013 Navarro deal look much better now
admin Site Manager Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Can't read tweets on tapatalk $8.25 for one year. Holy s***, that's a terrible deal. I can't believe he got double what Navarro did. He's 38 years old in a month.

TRM Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Is there a better match? The ultimate douche for the douchiest team in the majors.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Ill take navarro all day over AJ especially at half the price.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 I have no doubt AJ can still put up decent numbers but for that price? Gross.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Texas. Nope: Jeff Wilson @JeffWilson_FWST Sources: #Rangers won't pursue a reunion with free-agent catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia, who they dealt away in 2010.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 3, 2013 Posted December 3, 2013 Wonder where Salty will land. Miami or Minnesota
