Interesting quotes from Scott Boras about the Blue Jays.

http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/anthopoulous-rips-fabricated-bautista-rumour/

Cementing Jose's exit and Choo's arrival.

Interesting tidbit here;

"Asked if he believes the Blue Jays may have intentionally turned away from his clients as a result of the failed Paxton negotiation, he said: “I’ve had constant communication with both Paul (Beeston) and AA (Alex Anthopoulos) throughout. It’s not anything to do with not talking, maybe just not the right fits.”" -- Scott Boras

Probably still haven't smoothed everything over but I guess Boras has maintained a stronger working relationship with the Jays than we suspected.

As if Boras would ever admit to not having a relationship with a team, the more team he is supposedly talking to, the more leverage he has.

I like how he refers to Anthopoulos as 'AA', which is what we all call him. It does seem like the supposed grudge is overblown.

Or is he just sweet hearting us so we can get our business. Never trust anything this guy says. Or if he has constant communication with he gets way more leverage. Guy is sneaky.

Agreed, however, we should give Boras more credit. He is a scumbag but he is also a professional. He's probably pissed with the Jays and specifically Beeston but I doubt he'd let it get in the way of doing business and what's best for his clients.

Boras probably told AA that he is a Robinson Cano 10 year 300 million contract away from playoff contention.:P

Except he no longer represents Cano...

AA and Beeston would sign a free agent Boras client if the player and price fit their needs

That just seems unlikely this off season

Lol Boras trying to drum up business. I don't think he knows how much he's hated inside that front office.

I would bet almost anything against this.

Something needs to happen. Marlon Byrd and Nick Punto signings aren't really doing it for me.

Winter meetings will be the real action.

Ooo, almost anything? Interesting...

I'll give you 50-1 for this offseason. Name your stake and it's a deal.

That doesn't even stand out as being particularly stupid relative to the rest of the thread.

Interesting. That's as far as I was able to get before I vomited on my tablet causing it to shutdown.

He's not even good at doing that either.

"I use AVG, SLG, OBP, and variety of defensive metrics. Aside from OBP, Punto was below average significantly in AVG and SLG"

Punto hit .255, the National League hit .251. A variety of defensive metrics (UZR, DRS, Errors) had Punto as an above-average defensive middle infielder in 2013.

These stats line up very closely with what WAR says... 'hunches' are the real things that this guy uses. Punto is a very useful utility player, and under-paid at $2.75M.

Punto's always been a good defender and isnt a black hole with the bat. Anyone with common sense would tell you that he's just an average ball player, nothing special but is the type of player who deserves to be sought out when filling out a roster. I actually wouldnt have minded AA throwing 3.5 MIl at him to be our second baseman if we didnt have Izzy ( who should bounce bacK)

It's not happening this off season. Not Choo or Ellsbury. I just meant in general.

Idk what I enjoyed more, that comment thread or the part where Scott Boras implied that the Jays have a process

50-1 odds is pretty steep.. I wouldve layed out $10 for a shot at $500. Of course I'm the kind on guy who always spends $10-20 on lottery tickets when jackpot is real big. I don't even want to know how much I've wasted over the years:(

Re: Kemp to the M's

I think it would take one of Walker/Hutlzen, one of Franklin/Zunino, and maybe Seager. Just don't know if the cost of a often injured superstar is worth gutting the farm.

Re: Kemp to the M's

Yeah, it always costs a couple legit prospects and more for an albatross contract.... What a retard.

Re: Kemp to the M's

I'd move Bautista for Hultzen + Zunino, just saying.

Outlandish trade proposal of the day;

To TOR Zunino + Ackley + Hultzen

To SEA Bautista + JPA + Pillar
