I remember when Lawrie fell like 8 feet in New York. Amazing that he even got up. Most people would be dead or basically dead but broken.

Yep. That was crazy.

Choo sparked this entire inning. Kind of guy we need.

i don't understand why everyone thinks AA is even subconsciously thinking of signing a starting outfielder. he's made it pretty clear melky isn't going anywhere

Agree. If he gets a number 2-3 caliber starter and a catcher this off season we should be thrilled. Let's not let ourselves think he's going to spend 75-100M on an outfielder while he's at it.

Must suck to play an entire season and lose flat out in the WC elimination game. Then again, anything would be better then the s*** the Blue Jays put us through year-after-year.

I can't see another team ever giving him another chance as a starter

Maybe a really bad team would give him shot, for a little while at least. But it seems he's very close to finally fizzling out, which is kind of sad to see.

Very cool for Pirates fans. Can't help but relate to them...one day we'll have our moment!

Now I hope they knock off the True Cardinals.

Jays used to be the team that always contended but always found a way to lose in the end. Until 1992, then they won twice. They also had one of the biggest payrolls in baseball ( sometimes top ) and filled the stadium every game. So next time someone tries to suggest that Toronto cannot be a big budget team that brings in free agents, you can be sure that person wasn't very old from 1985-1992.

What the Jays tried to do this year was a first attempt to follow a model that worked in spades in the past. They got sloppy but the basic premise is similar to the glory days. I wouldn't write it off after one year. A complete rebuild at this point would be stupid.

There was some hangover from the World Series years followed by the legacy of a Belgian brewery that decided that winning didn't matter, and they'd milk the franchise for every dollar they could get. Its not surprising that it could take many years to recover from such an approach. Note the years that the Jays had a payroll around 45M which is a joke for a franchise in a city this big.

Joe Buck and Fox is pretty terrible as well.

Listening to them whine the two years Texas was in the WS, mainly vs. St Louis who they said "They're the wild card they shouldn't have home field advantage!"

That was fugly Votto.

That's the problem of course with a one game playoff.

Cueto has a bad start and Votto doesn't show up? Sayanora.

As much as I hate Joe Buck and pretty much everything he says, I agree with that. The all star game deciding home field advantage is dumb as hell

I meant his gaffe at first? Not the player himself as a whole?

Oh I hadn't even see the play. Didn't know you meant that specifically.

Great player, terrible game. It happens.
