GD Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2013 Author Posted September 25, 2013 "It would lessen the workload on his fragile arm, and he's certainly a special pitcher" Was the gist of it

bzapple Verified Member Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I suggest moving Gregg Zaun to the unemployment line.
Jays Verified Member Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Remember when people were suggesting a few years ago that Cecil be moved from starter to closer? lol, I can't believe how well that worked. But Morrow for closer is a terrible idea, Zaun, go back to looking at RBI totals to figure out your runs created stat. On second thought, don't do that ever again.

The_DH Verified Member Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 We have 5 guys who could close And like 2 bankable starters Morrow can't handle the starting workload so what else can you do? 10 - 15 starts isn't going to cut it.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Dickey should be a closer too, a great change of pace. Jannsen Dickey Santos McGowan Morrow What a great Closer rotation! Playoff Bound.

Jannsen Dickey Santos McGowan Morrow What a great Closer rotation! Playoff Bound. You have to wonder what would happen if a team took two groups of 5 relievers, and had them each pitch 2 innings every other game.
The_DH Verified Member Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Nah you have to keep trying him as a starter. He will probably be on limited innings count next season again. I could see him pitching out of the pen down the strech and playoffs. But first we got to get somr starters and in the picture lol. How many seasons has he been here? How many full seasons has he completed? I'd bet more on Munenori hitting 30 homers than I would on Morrow pitching 200 innings back to back.
The_DH Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 One of AAs failures. He can't build a rotation.
mitchf Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Just when I was starting to like Zauny, he says something like this. Hard to blame the guy though, he's looking for alternatives that are original.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I suggest moving Gregg Zaun to the unemployment line. I'd have given you a thanks if not for the fact that he's the only hope to turn the fans against JPA. Also, his brutal critiques are funny.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Greenwood thought of that and got the lynch mob out for him. I'm not saying we should do it (I don't want us to), just that it would be interesting to see the results.

Convo Verified Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Can we trade Zaun for a bag of balls?
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I agree with Zaun, therefore I am.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 Greenwood thought of that and got the lynch mob out for him. I did it in MLB MVP '05. It was sweet
TheHurl Site Manager Posted September 26, 2013 Posted September 26, 2013 I did it in MLB MVP '05. It was sweet You can lynch Greenwood on MLB MVP '05???? Could make it a big seller in these parts.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted September 27, 2013 Posted September 27, 2013 Rotation: Dickey (4) Rogers (2) McGowan (2) Santos (1) Buehrle (4) Hutch (2) Cecil (2) Janssen (1) Morrow (4) Happ (2) Drabek (2) Delabar (1) Extra: Loup Sometimes Morrow goes 3 to reduce workload. Reduce three starters to 3 innings in September (when extra arms are available). Dickey, Buehrle, Morrow 207 IP (less for Morrow when Happ goes 3 too) Drabek, McGowan (Redmond or Wagner if McGowan injured), Cecil, Rogers, Hutch, Happ: max 108 IP (not too much for these former starters). Santos, Janssen, Delabar 54 IP Loup fill other innings (extras too), lefty specialist etc. When losing on road McGowan, Cecil, and Drabek get one less inning. Could work out, but would never happen. Kind of an interesting idea. One extra guy wouldnt work. To many guys week to week would get rocked and not last their scheduled innings, despite them being limited.
