f***ing loved that Zaun interview. Arencibia is a f***ing idiot.

Yep. I used to feel a bit bad for JP. Not anymore. Not in the least. Can't stand him. Useless and has to go. And just no comprehension of how bad he actually is. Zaun is 100% right in the instance and hopefully he convinces the TV masses that the team will be better off without him.

LOL, there's someone that JP shouldn't have pissed off

that's about as true as it gets bro.

You don't tug on Superman's cape

You don't spit into the wind

You don't pull the mask off that old Lone Ranger

And you don't mess around with Zaun

Apparently JP tried to get Zaun and Hayhurt fired lol...or at least censored.

I wouldn't be surprised. This guy is a joke. I could see a good player maybe having the clout to make that happen, but a guy hitting under .200 with a minus WAR? lol

He's actually cost us a solid 2.5 wins (which, with framing, could be closer to 3.5) through wRAA, BsR and Fld. Literally the only thing that he does at an MLB level is show up. It's remarkable.

Ha, so right. Why not keep a low profile, JP.

Traded away d'Arnaud, gomes, Mathis and Buck so that JPA could be da catcher of Da future

And Perez

Don't forget about Perez

It just goes to show that you don't need to be particularly good at what you do to get ahead. These guys (AA, Beeston et al.) are at the absolute top of their industry and are complete f***ing idiots.

It's a lottery, it really is. I have full faith that multiple members of this board would be better GMs than Anthopoulos, and that's not even necessarily due to the intelligence of the members.

I've never seen an athlete get away with running his mouth as much as this clown does while turning in literally one of the worst seasons in the history of the game. This guy is going to get the Mendoza Line renamed after him at this rate.

This one was the inspiration for my post though

The Peter Principle in action.

To be fair Mathis and Buck were moved for budget reasons in both deals. The point still stands though. All that catching depth moved through the organization and only JP and his sub-major league level tools remains.

With roster and personnel decisions I agree. There is a lot more to being a GM than that though which is where our comrades would fall short.

No one in their right mind should blame Arencibia for not being very good at baseball. Athletes can only play up to their skill sets. Everyone is blaming him though for running his mouth and acting like a f***ing baboon.

Yeah, but the point is that he shouldn't have even had the chance to run his mouth this much because he should've been demoted just like Romero.

It would be interesting to understand the true dynamic between AA and Beeston. It's rarely mentioned that AA was hired literally less than 48 hours after "clubhouse mutiny".

Mutiny occurred, from an "un-named leak". Hill, Wells, and other players confirm the mutiny, but no one really takes responsibility for the leak. There are some rumours it was Riccardi.

Then Beeston all of a sudden goes to Baltimore fires Riccardi and installs AA...

AAs first month is spent repairing the mutiny and orchestrating the half-assed Cito retirement tour. After that Beeston and AA go to visit Halladay personally. One wonders what was discussed that day. Would Halladay have returned if Cito was let go, and then they went "all-in".

In retrospect that would of been a much better time to go all-in.

I think AA is smart, but doesn't have a set, can't stand up to Beeston or other personalities, old scouts, etc. He was hired by Beeston, in part, because Beeston needed a guy to smooth over Cito's exit. And that explains everything else that has happened.

"Fans don’t write the lineup, I’ll tell you that. The ones that are critical are the ones that most of the time never played and don’t really understand it.

“That’s what it is. I don’t have a problem with it, that’s out of my control, what happens. From my belief, and what I’ve understood, I’m the guy and there hasn’t been any loss of (faith). I believe that, and I believe that baseball people believe that, as well.”

I'm Dominican and former catcher, for that reason I'm able to differentiate between a good catcher from a horrible catcher.

Do you can block the ball in front of you? - NO

Your brain contains basic knowledge to call a intelligently game? - NO

Do you are consistent throw-out a SB Runners? - NO

Do you know how to frame a pitch? - NO

#ArencibiaLine - Yes, you are.

So are Tabler and Martinez.

?? Like what ??

There are some people, like myself, who absolutely wouldn't have the temperment, or the political skills or the patience for it, or the scouting skills (which you need a some of). I'd go off on some crazy rant about on base percentage and tell some old scout off... when in reality a little patience and a better understanding of scouting would be needed to look at things from different views. The skills to be able to bring scouts and anatlytics together would be really important, which some people on this board would have.

Could you bring someone from the board over "as-is" right now?? No. But there are a lot of people who if they got the right break at age 25, and got an internship, and worked their way up, would be just as good as AA.

It is kind of two lucky breaks that are needed... first off you need to get the first internship, or low level job, which you are competing against a bunch of other 25 year old fanatics for... and there is no difference... so it's just luck who gets it. Then after that there is a combination of hard work and some luck to work your way up.

Like negotiating with agents and making trades. It's a lot harder than it seems to make big deals. It's one thing to say what the right move is, it's much harder to make it happen.
