dineke Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Rodgers is one of the best players in the NFL and I never said he wasn't. Just that Watt is the best defensive player ever and what he is doing no one has done. Lol cannot compare it to Rivera at all as its completely different. Rivera was a relief pitcher and barely played. Watt is on the field as much as any other player is. I don't think Watt "ran away with it" but he was the best player in the NFL last season and Rodgers won because QBs are the most valuable position on the field and he was by far the best QB. No one has done what Watt does? I bet Lawrence Taylor would have something to say about that. And just because Watt is on the field just as much as a QB doesn't mean he can make the same impact when the QB touches the ball on every play. In that sense he is like a relief pitcher although a DE does make more impact comparatively than a RP in baseball.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Would like to hear from Nox on this, but I'd imagine that if a replacement level was calculated and compared to Watt vs Rogers, Watt would come out ahead in a WAR-like statistic.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 How would you even begin to calculate WAR for a lineman or cornerback etc...
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 How would you even begin to calculate WAR for a lineman or cornerback etc... It'd probably be awful. But my thinking was more along the general lines of "Watt was probably better relative to his position than Rodgers was relative to his"

The only comparison you could make comparing football positions to baseball would be saying a QB is like a catcher in that they determine the game outcome more than other positions. I still think Watt deserved to be MVP because he had the best performance of any player and no one has seen a player like him ever before. PFF has grades and the grades Watt gets are ridiculous compared to everyone else. Thats not why I think Watt deserved MVP because ultimately the grades are opinions but it is still a thing to look at to get a perspective.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 The worst part about the Super Bowl is how nauseatingly American the whole event is.
Frag Verified Member Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 The worst part about the Super Bowl is how nauseatingly American the whole event is. It's a Yankees game x1000000.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Dumbass question 1/20: Was that what they refer to as a Pick 6?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 No posts in here? lol I was hoping there would be more people, but I'm guessing many are with family and/or friends to watch the game together.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Dumbass question 1/20: Was that what they refer to as a Pick 6? No. A Pick 6 is an interception that is returned for a touchdown.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 No. A Pick 6 is an interception that is returned for a touchdown. Oh, that makes sense.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 There's the first 7 points. Wilson not looking great early on. That or the Seahawks just can't get open.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 A couple first downs here would be nice.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Lynch getting every inch. I really wanted to respond with something that rhymes. I got nothing though.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Lynch getting every inch. Stolen from Chris Smoove lol
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Stolen from Chris Smoove lol Yup
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 lol why is KJ wright on Gronk?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 lol why is KJ wright on Gronk? Awful, he was 3 steps behind.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Awful, he was 3 steps behind. Yeah because he's a linebacker covering one of the best tight ends in man coverage. They should have called a time out before the play.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Going for it with 6 seconds. Let's see what happens.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Yeah because he's a linebacker covering one of the best tight ends in man coverage.
