Flamingweazel Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Stick to what? Double AA? He is over matched in MLB,
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 BUMP 0-3, 3K's tonight Currently sporting a .178 OPS Still think he has a .300 average in that bat Seitzer/AA/Gibbons? Do the right thing and call up Kawasaki instead of this bum. His glove has to be at least 5 WAR to offset his atrocious bat. It's sad that Saki is still in AAA. Guy was legitimately valuable last year.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 It's sad that Saki is still in AAA. Guy was legitimately valuable last year. With Diaz on this team we don't need Goins as well. Agreed that Kawasaki should be on this team.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 A -61 wRC+ is bad, right? Considering 130 is average yeah it's pretty bad.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 A -61 wRC+ is bad, right? I don't think I've ever seen one that low lol
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Small Sample Size guys, He hasn't been given enough time to prove himself yet. Bump this thread at the end of June Sarcasm, right? Just checking because you're smarter than this. No way we can allow this to continue. Tillman isn't even that great, and he made Goins his bitch tonight. Goins cannot handle MLB pitching, and it's embarrassing that AA thought so off of a September call up last year.

If Tillman is so poor, you should probably demote the whole team.
shortstop Verified Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 he's overmatched at the plate at this level right now...he'll be given till the end of April, perhaps Mid-May to see if he can hit at least .150...can see him go down when Reyes comes back...can Diaz play 2nd?
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Unfortunately, Stephen Drew will not be signed regardless of how futile Ryan Goins is at the plate, as long as Maicer and Jonathan Diaz keep performing. This is mostly for my own reference, as my Drew boner is getting out of hand, and I keep telling myself that he'll sign, he'll sign.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Sarcasm, right? Yes lol (ECJF gonna rage)
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Diaz coming up and outperforming expectations is the exact same situation as Goins last year. I don't want either of them anywhere near this team Actually, Diaz is probably better considering he's a very good defender at shortstop, more valuable than at 2B.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 We could throw Spanky up to the plate with a twig and he'd definitely be better ftfy
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Diaz coming up and outperforming expectations is the exact same situation as Goins last year. I don't want either of them anywhere near this team Unlike Goins, Diaz probably won't me miscast as a starter. Izturis has re-claimed the 2B role. Diaz will be a backup which is all Goins should have been.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Another question is: Does Diaz have an option? If he does, I think they send him down. If he doesn't, I think they'll be hesitant to risk losing him. I hope Izturis is in fact rebounding and it's not just a hot streak, that would be nice. As far as Goins is concerned, we all know his bat is terrible, but I do think he's pressing and actually feel bad for him. I hope he gets a couple of hits to lift his morale.

Diaz was optioned to the minors to start the season. He's fine. They could send him down although I don't see why they would pick Goins over him at this point.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Career 43 wRC+ on a reasonable .284 BABIP Even if you regress the BABIP that can't be more than a 50 wRC+ lol
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Yeah Diaz you can stay. Someone make a GIF of that play ASAP please.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 What happened You didn't see what Diaz just did?
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-skIs3I_7sOY/U0no23zwzFI/AAAAAAAAHX8/lanwCK9rbqo/s1600/Diaz.gif Credit to ang I think?
flafson Verified Member Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Goins had a .500 day so can't say bad things about him. But anyway, that was a nice play, if you look at it in slow motion, i have no idea how he doesn't break his leg or something of that sort.
Fansince77 Verified Member Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 Diaz is playing well..nice play tonight
Muck Bartinez Verified Member Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 So the first UZR update is in and has the greatest defender of all time at +0.6 runs in 82 defensive innings, bringing him to -0.3 fWAR through 13 games. NO CAUSE SSS AND NEW TURF BUT LAST YEARS SSS HOLDS UP BECAUSE!!! cap

Caper Verified Member Posted April 15, 2014 Author Posted April 15, 2014 This is kind of a serious question.... Do you think Goins did a massive fist pump when he found out Izzy was injured. I always wonder about that. There are so many guys out there whose career/life hinges on teammates getting hurt.

I feel like he'll show the proper respects and be disappointed that his teammate is injured but secretly be happy his leash will be extended. All ballplayers do this, probably.

I didn't say that at all lol. The fact that Maicer went down means that Goins has at least a slightly heightened chance of sticking, and he's probably secretly happy about that, as any player would be.

No. Goins is better on the field. Though I like Saki's s***** bat. When you need that ball in play... or a guy that can work a wok with shaky pitcher... Saki is your guy.
