The_DH Verified Member Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 AA doesn't usually stick his foot in his mouth, he just doesn't usually tell the whole truth. But he still hired the village idiot when nobody would even give him a coaching job.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Ok we will have to disagree here. I honestly feel that Gibbons is borderline retarded. If you feel differently that's your choice.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Meanwhile I've had a few beers and all I want is another damn world series win.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 23, 2014 Posted March 23, 2014 Hiring Gibbons was one of AA's better moves. +1. The guy got stuck with a overrated team that was made of glass. The guy is great with bullpen management which is in my opinion the most important part. He is a good manager and the unfortunate thing is if things don't go well he will be the sacrificial lamb because of AAs rotation that he stuck him with.
Caper Verified Member Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 lol Neither of them have a GG....yet Man Goins can field... He looked great at the plate today... That walk was really good.
flafson Verified Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Man Goins can field... He looked great at the plate today... That walk was really good. I usually get excited when he does something right, but then you see the next guy or two with the same outcome and you wonder.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 This line up lends lee-way, but not batting weight s***. I agree. You want to do another wager on Goins being above or below a 1 WAR for $50? Everyone including yourself are convinced he'll never do it. Watta you say?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 This line up lends lee-way, but not batting weight s***. The lineup can absorb him in the 9 hole when everyone is healthy The problem is, as soon as you put Izturis in there (when Reyes or Lawrie is out) it's double trouble

I honestly would feel better with Kawasaki than Izturis. Chances are, we will have both soon enough.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 1.5 at 50........his defense is pretty flippin good. P.S. I hope he hits. Meh, 1.5 seems a bit high for a first year player who projects to have a 60 wRC+ this year, no?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 If he lasts more than 3 months, I'll lose this bet on defense alone. The masses don't think so.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 No doubt. Of course, most teams could probably say the same. But Lawrie and Reyes just miss so much time...
flafson Verified Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 So 1.5 or no? Are you on Red Bull right now? You act like Lawrie.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 I know G, I agree. I'm talking about Goins, the Jays won with Many Lee man. Yes they did. Goins is better than Lee too. By a long shot.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Yes they did. Goins is better than Lee too. By a long shot. Really? Manny Lee was generally replacement level, but his age 27 season he had a .343 OBP with quite reasonable D at SS. Injuries killed him in his prime and forced early retirement at age 30. This is Goins' age 26 season. It's highly doubtful Goins will be a better overall player than Lee. Certainly not 'by a long shot'

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Having said the above, I hated Lee. He was the weakest link on stacked teams.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Reyes has a great arm Only his range is an issue. And he more than makes up for it on offense
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Reyes has a great arm Lawrie has a great arm. Escobar has a great arm. Reyes does not.
Caper Verified Member Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Lawrie has a great arm. Escobar has a great arm. Reyes does not. He's not the best fielder, but he has a pretty good arm.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 So 1.5 or no? Meet in the middle, 1.25 WAR. Can WAR numbers go two past the decimal?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Isn't replacement level 0.7 WAR?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 don't be a pussy. Goins is a defensive stud, go for 1.5. stfu
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Don't be a pussy. Goins is a defensive stud, go for 1.5. Who do think you're trying to play here kid? Seriously, that's backhand to the back of the head worthy.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Everything you have stood for in this thread, all 100+ pages of it, 2000+ posts. 1.5 war or bust Don't you have faith in BTS' judgement call at 1 WAR? I thought he was your master.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Hey Spank, think about it. We'll talk..
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Isn't replacement level 0.7 WAR? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WHAT sig
GD Old-Timey Member Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Isn't replacement level 0.7 WAR? In all seriousness, it's 0.0. At least understand what you're betting.
