As soon as I read the title I figured this would be a fun thread.

A.) Why do you hate Rajai? Let me guess, you called into JaysTalk today?

B.) Why the f*** does it make a difference if we get rid of them within the next 10 days? That's seriously where you draw the line? 2 marginal players being discarded in 10 days?

I don't actually hate R. Davis (other than when he gets picked off 2nd when the Jays are down by 2), I actually think he's a great 4th OF, that being said he's a FA and will be leaving. Oliver is done at the end of the year. Even if the Jays only get cash or a huge gamble on a PTBNL its worth it. At the very least be a classy org and give Oliver a chance to go to a contender even if they get nothing out of it. Not to mention then they could at least give playing time to young guys.

Okay, this seems reasonable. My arguments:

1.) We shouldn't let Davis leave. He's a valuable contributor.

2.) Why should we treat Oliver with respect after the s*** he pulled in the offseason? Quite frankly, f*** him.

3.) The kids will get playing time. It's September. One of Nolin/Stroman *MAY* be starting Saturday, we've got a Gose/Pillar/Sierra OF, we may see Jimenez and Stilson, etc.

Ok of it was Oliver and not his agent in the off season then f*** him, but why do we need Davis at all, if he's done at the end of the season and our season has been over since April. I really hope we see Stroman and Jimenez.

I love Davis as a 4th OF and PR. He's been fun to watch this year. He'll be gone next year cause Gose can fill that role at a cheaper rate. And yeah, I hope to see Stroman and Jimenez too.

Oliver may very well have requested to stay here (I'm assuming unless it was back to Texas). As for Davis, if we don't plan to re-sign him again then I agree it's stupid not to move him, especially with all the injuries teams have right now (although perhaps he was claimed by a team trying to block someone else and offered nothing).

We don't need him next year, but if we plan to even try and contend next year, he's a really useful bench piece.

Meh, keep Davis and let him go for the team's single season SB record. Need something interesting to care about for this season.

And then last night happens and it backfires and we want him gone lol.

Meh...like it makes a difference anymore...let ol' biglips loose on the bathpaths in the most reckless fashion possible and let him collect those SB's so he can get his Vince Coleman-like payday next season. How embarrassing is it that the Jays have a white guy holding their all-time SB record? A white guy who played with glasses nonetheless.

I hate to agree, but I agree. No contenders wanted him in March, and he's having a sub-par season, so why would they now. Davis on the other hand, I'm sure contenders would love, but you would get almost nothing in trade. Maybe a AAA reliever.

I've always been on the Davis train, but now I think he needs to go. We have Pillar and Gose for bench duty in the future, and at a fraction of the cost of Davis.

Davis won't be very expensive, but it's best to spend that 4 or 5 million on more pressing needs.

40 for 43 in SB is pretty amazing.

This organization is so messed up. If the team is truly "all-in", it needs to have a solid bench with guys like Davis that can actually do something useful; in Davis' case, play reasonable defense, steal some bases, and sometimes play against LHP. I can definitely appreciate scenarios where I'd rather have Gose/Pillar fill a role over Davis, but if the goal is to contend next season, I don't know if either have shown enough to count on for next season.

What's the point of gutting the system if you're going to punt roughly a quarter of the roster (C, 2B, bench)?
