If you think that a) his UZR is his true talent, and his ability will stay about the same for a few more years, it makes no sense to move him. If you start weighing his DRS and then projecting the same decline you typically would with a 31-year old, you get to -10+ run territory and it becomes pretty attractive to look for a SS if you can find one, rather than a 2B.

 

Well I think you're kind of putting words in to the mouth's of those who want to keep him at SS with point b. No one is saying they want to keep him at SS for a "few more years", just that moving him to 2B as soon as next season isn't the right move.

I can't believe this thread was about comparing Kawasaki to Reyes .

 

I know our defense up the middle sucked this year but Reyes was the least of that disaster . AA needs to concentrate his efforts behind the plate where it is needed and forget the Bonifacio disaster . Those two steps would win us games . Reyes at short is the least of AA,s worries.

I'm not sure. Cause Lawrie covers so much of the corner, I don't know that moving Reyes to 2B would help overall that much.

 

It would help immensely if an above average SS became available, and AA picked him up and THEN moved reyes to 2nd.

Reyes isn't moving to 2B next season, can we put an end to this already? Upgrade C and 2B, hope for the best from Cabrera unless you can get rid of his $. They'll have to hope on Morrow being healthy and rebounding, Dickey rebounding and contributions from Hutch, Nolin, Stroman. JJ coming back on a 1 year deal would be great, but I think he'll rather take a 1 year deal with a NL team that has a big stadium.
