theblujay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 AA do something already! B...b...but we need 10 relievers to win the WS series with the same roster next year.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Alex working on another masterpiece. He was seen talking with Jeff Luhnow. Nolin + Pillar + Stroman + Gose + PTBNL (Alberto Tirado) for Jason Castro + Bud Norris + Hardthrower RP
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm stoked for the Bogaerts era to begin.
SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Peavy going to Boston, means he'll enjoy sustained health and success....if peavy came to Toronto he would need his right arm amputated after 2 starts.
digiblader Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Sorry to say, but I also expect Peavy to be destroyed in the AL East. They must really think highly of Xander Bogaerts to trade Iglesias..they're going to be worse defensively and Peavy's likely to replace Workman in the rotation(with Workman going to AAA, bullpen or trade)
SAAviour Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Does this mean we could have had peavy for Hech? Careful AA, I'm less than 24 hours from changing my name...

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Boston better freaking give up a top prospect too. For sure. Iglesias isn't the central piece, maybe Ranuado/Owens/Barnes
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 What asset of ours is closest in value to Iglesias?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Gethin Coolbaugh @GethinCoolbaugh 12s #RedSox are getting Jake Peavy AND a prospect? This is awesome. oh f*** off Boston
Laika Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm probably being too optimistic on this, but I don't see Peavy as that much of an injury concern. His recent injury was probably a fluke (broken rib) and he made all his starts last year. Isn't it possible that the shoulder thing is behind him? I don't think pitchers ever really get completely past major injuries like that. I always view guys like Peavy as extra time-bomby (all pitchers are ticking time bombs). Basically, we have no idea. You can either assume he's normal or assume he's a bit more risky. I know what I'd be doing if it was my 30+ million dollars on the line.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Garcia profiles to hit 80 RBI. To think Bowden was a GM lol... what a moron. I think Garcia hits 20 in that ball park . He K lots but will hit some long balls
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Nick Cafardo @nickcafardo 2m Detroit RHP Brayan Villarreal may also be in this three-way Peavy deal Nick Cafardo @nickcafardo 1m Villarreal is likely being sent to Boston. Maybe other minor league players involved. ugh
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 Lawrie. I thought Iglesias was another Hech

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I thought Iglesias was another Hech Isn't Lawrie like Hech right now? This might seem like a joke, but it's not!
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 He kind of is. But we don't really have much in the way of controllable young talent. Sometimes I forget how badly AA gutted this team
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Author Posted July 31, 2013 My Gose comp works though right? Has some elite skills but may not hit, is in AAA/MLB limbo, turns 23 this year, etc. I'd have given up Gose for Peavy in a nanosecond. Yeah. There better be more to this
digiblader Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Xander Bogaerts, despite his offensive prowess, isn't that great a fielder(right now--he's a 4 according to MLB ranking, meaning he's weak defensively at SS. His arm projects better at 3B than SS. He'll have to wait though--Middlebrooks is apparently getting the callup.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Jon Heyman #chisox land 3 prospects, low-level guys, from #redsox in peavy deal. also received avisail garcia from #tigers in 3-way.
8D Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Looks like the Red Sox did pretty well in this trade. f*** i hate Farrell.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Sorry to say, but I also expect Peavy to be destroyed in the AL East. The Rays in particular have usually shelled Peavy IIRC. Am I the only one who thinks Peavy's highly overrated and trading Iglesias will come back to bite Boston in the ass eventually?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'd trade Gose for Iglesias, but IMO its not horrible. Gose > Iglesias. Best tool paquete and also plays in a premium position.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm hoping Rogers has told AA not to make any (more horrible) moves 'cause he'll be reviewed at the end of the year. Yeah, great f***ing timing, the Red Sox and Yanks were in bad shape, blah, blah. They just got Peavy without giving up either Bogaerts, Bradley or even a guy like Webster. Anyway....
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 The Rays in particular have usually shelled Peavy IIRC. Am I the only one who thinks Peavy's highly overrated and trading Iglesias will come back to bite Boston in the ass eventually? I think Peavy is a bit overrated by people right now (wouldn't have minded us getting him though), but I don't think trading Iglesias will bite Boston at all.
4thOFan Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 I'm stoked for the Bogaerts era to begin. Me too. Look at you two
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 From what I'm reading, Red Sox fans generally hate the trade, FWIW. Didn't want to give up Iglesias, worried that they made the Tigers better, a lot of them agree with me that Peavy is overrated, etc.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Looks like the Red Sox did pretty well in this trade. f*** i hate Farrell. Last 12 months: Red Sox unload a bunch of aging players with bad contracts, sign F/A's with the payroll flexibility, have Bogaerts, Bradley, Webster in upper minors and are fighting for 1st in the ALE. Blue Jays do the opposite.
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 Peavy's a #2 starter and the Red Sox have mountains of money lying around. Iglesias will never have an impact bat so this will only bite them if Peavy gets hurt. But Peavy always gets hurt, he's been injury-prone for years.
