Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 AA has to make a trade. Jesus f***, we could get a good prospect for Cecil/Delabar/Jansen
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 Good. This guy has earned a spot on this team, unlike many of the other players. Yes, but at the end of the day he is just a reliever. You must always be open to changes and to know the true positional value. C > SS > CF/2B > 3B/RF > 1B > LF SP > RP (RP > long RP > LOOGY) AA, Trade dat f***ing bullpen
vdartanian Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 the logical moves with this team during AA's tenure went out the window a long, long time ago, about the time we started trading position players for washed up bullpen arms a la Francisco.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I doubt he has any kind of value. Maybe a PTBNL. Who knows, some teams might get desperate and give us a C prospect. Better than nothing for a guy AA found in the trash.

Clojojo Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 people overpay for bullpen pieces all the time see rasmus trade delabar, cecil, perez , etc.. all are replaceable and AA needs to swallow his pride and accept that we need to rebuild if done right we could net a worthy prospect
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Trading Cecil makes the most sense. Juan and Luis Perez will be around next year, along with Loup.

I'd be keeping guys like Perez, and dealing guys with longer track records like Janssen, Delabar, Santos, whoever.

CHRIS Verified Member Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 You mean the 35-year old career minor leaguer isn't infallible? Someone should tell AA that sample sizes have nothing to do with the Burger King menu.
KSaw Verified Member Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 You mean the 35-year old career minor leaguer isn't infallible? Took a quick peek-- in his MLB career, going back to 2006, back-to-back days V the same opponent = poor results. Even earlier this year v Texas he allowed an inherited runner to score and took a blown save. When you need to fool hitters and use a lot of cross angle on your pitches, you tend to get hit if they get a few shots at you. That said, he's pretty effective. He has become a smart pitcher over the years. I bet that he has a few decent years left in him (if used correctly).
