fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Nope. That pick just evaporates, nobody gets it. That's why there were only 27 picks in the first round this year. What the f***. Uhh, then I'd try to trade JJ quick or offer him a cheap extension before he bounces back. What the hell, is there anything good to come out of a supplemental pick? Is there a top 50 prospect that was a supplemental pick??
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 yeah, new CBA rules. If Johnson continues pitching like s*** then he will accepts the QO to increase his value in 2014 and get big money in 2015 (Haren, EJaX) I bet Haren is wishing he signed a longer deal right about now.

I would be pleased with that return if he walks and if he doesn't I am expecting a bounce back season.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 18, 2013 Author Posted July 18, 2013 Over the years all kinds mate, a supplemental pick is basically the 1st round. supplemental picks = Sanchez #34, Synderlander #38, Wocj #41
flafson Verified Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 As long as it's first round supplemental, that's pretty much a first round pick.

Sure Most years there are plenty of impact players taken all through the first round Baseball is so different than NBA and NFL, where it's WAY more clear who the top few picks are. There are all kinds of years where half the top 10 MLB picks are busts and tons of excellent players from the 10-50 range.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 Would I rather have the 10th pick than the 27th? Of course. My only real point is that these higher picks are less "sure" than, say, the NBA, where superstars in waiting like a Lebron James are obvious by the time they're drafted.

GNick Verified Member Posted July 18, 2013 Posted July 18, 2013 I think Jays should move Johnson. He's a bad fit in competive division pitching in home run hitters ball park. Granted his value is at its low, get a B prospect back and move on. Take the 5 million saved this year and probable 15 million next year, and put it towards another major player.
