There is no way in hell that Gose doesn't have a speed tool. It's fine to say he has a lot to work on with decisions on the base paths, but he is undeniably fast.

If you can provide his 100m or home-to-first times at the top of a list with other top speedsters then I'll have no retort.

I really can't believe you're questioning his speed tool.

Let's put it this way... if he's racing Brett Lawrie from home to first, I'm not sure who wins. Go ahead and hammer me for saying that... IDC

Wow.

Ok wait, let me rephrase... I'm not convinced Gose wins every time.

Btw - are you a know-it-all in RL too? If so, how does that work out for you?

Why the snark? I've been pretty cordial considering how f***ing stupid it is to say Gose has two tools one of them isn't speed.

Yeah honestly I don't know why I said that, that was stupid. I just think he's to some extent over-rated in terms of speed on the base-paths.

Didn't meant to be a snark, it's just that it seems you're never wrong until you are actually proven wrong.

Also, this thread would probably have 3+ pages if it wasn't banished to the prospects board.

I moved it and you have been proven correct

Gose speed is like the Rick Ankiel power, They both haven't the necessary hit tools to complement those skills. lol

Watch this video and type with a straight face that you don't think he has elite speed

Thanks for the link, not going to comment any further on the topic though :)

Thanks for rubbing salt in the wound.

It's insane how much Gose's stolen base percentages have fluctuated. Guy just doesn't have a good head on his shoulders. Hopefully he grows up a bit. I think a lot of people now have realized that "swag" isn't really the most awesome personality trait for a ball player.

I don't think this has been brought up yet, but does Gose now sucking rehash the "debate"

of Gose vs. Wallace. lol. is that even possible? haha

22 years old in Triple A. Look at Devo or Rasmus when they 22 years old?

Rasmus had his best year in the majors I believe. Look at Harper. He just turned 20

I'm gonna go out on a flimsy limb and say that Anthony Gose just has a case of the "AAA's".

Sometimes young players get bored and disinterested when they feel like they should have been in the big leagues a while ago. Gose has never repeated a level. He probably had 2013 penciled in as his first full MLB season.

Harper and the Trouts are going to be greats. Nobody is putting is putting Gose in that category. They are putting Gose in the Devon White, Lloyd Moseby category.

Rasmus had a good half year and then was run out of St.Louis. He wasn't mature, he did nothing here also for first 1.5 seasons. He just now blossomed at 26-27 years old.

Colby ops by age - all in the majors

22 .714

23 .859

24 .688

25 .689

26 .803 (this year)

I'm just saying dont excuse Gose bad year on his age. If its being disinterested then there is more to worry about. Last season he did not excel or dominate. He's got ALOT to work on. His hit tool likely means he's going to be a part time player (similar to a Kawasaki type player). Sorry but that is the likely outcome

Sure, but any rational person has thought this all along. His s***** year so far doesn't even really move the needle.

Still, he could be one hell of a part time player. Imagine if Rajai Davis walked twice as much and could play a mint CF, while making 500k... you'd have a most ideal 4th OF / platoon player.

Devon White is comparable to Gose. Maybe a cross between White and a Brett Gardner. Because of range and great arm. Neither big offense but will be good WAR. Bat wise Rasmus had edge, but reasons why Cardinals gave him away and he hit .680s OPS here for 1.5 seasons. Rasmus play fell of face of earth second half of each last 2 seasons, I'd like to see his numbers at end of September before claiming this year a good season for him.

“The same thing I always need to work on: hitting the ball,” Gose says with a tinge of irritation. “Hit the ball and you don’t have any problems — we’re not having this interview, people aren’t asking me questions, people aren’t talking to me. But here we are.”

“I didn’t think I’d be sitting here with 200 strikeouts at the all-star break, wondering where I’m going, where I’m headed, how the season will play out,” Gose said Tuesday after batting practic"

“I think everybody’s reading into this a little bit the wrong way,” he says. “This is not about being in the big leagues or not being in the big leagues. It’s about me just trying to put together a swing and an approach that’s going to be consistent to help me play in the big leagues.

“I haven’t done anything to deserve to be in the big leagues. I know that, you know that, everybody around me knows that, everybody in the organization knows, everybody in baseball knows.”
