KSaw Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Does Boni look at all close to having it click? He can't hit and really hasn't over his career (78 wRC+ in 2068 PA). There's nothing to salvage. Maybe we get lucky and Bonifacio is suspended after the break for PEDs.

Chappy Community Moderator Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 For the time being they just need to worry about Lawrie/Cabrera and Santos....they'll most likely option Redmond/Loup and Mooney until they can move Oliver/Perez and Bonifacio. At this point AA should only be focusing on fixing this team for 2014. This team has had several chances and its just not happening. Time to start dumping payroll and clearing roster space. I would only try to keep EE, Bautista and Reyes. Everyone else can be shopped and let's see what can be done. In the offseason fill in the holes and take another crack at contending.
DwightDM Verified Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Oliver has to be moved. Some PTBNL or something. He's old, showing it, and we have 3 other good lefties we can keep.
saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Lawrie up, Kawa down Melky up, Redmond down I like that...but that leaves the team with 4 starting pitchers. Who from the bullpen moves in to become a starter?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 I like that...but that leaves the team with 4 starting pitchers. Who from the bullpen moves in to become a starter? McGowan-Perez Piggyback

saskjayfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 McGowan-Perez Piggyback I like the idea of stretching mcgowan out....he even said in his interview with lott the other day he wants to be a starter again one day...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 That's why AA signed McGowan to the extension, he didn't want this to be the next Chris Carpenter. There's no reason to have held onto this guy for so long for him to just be a reliever. and this ------> http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=19502731&query=Dustin%2BMcGowan Plus fastball, borderline plus slider
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Yep. He had some real gems back in the day, I was actually at his 8 2/3 IP no-hitter vs. Colorado in 2007. Plus-plus stuff. This ---->
