I haven't studied the Raptors play calling enough to know if this actually works but it sounds right given what I remember. Read it on realgm:

"He and Derozan are actually perfect for each other out of the staggered screens/horns sets the Raptors have liked to run in the past. Undefeated could probably talk more about this but the threat of Derozan's drives would set up more clean looks for LMA and LMA's shooting would allow Derozan to drive out of the horn with even more regularity and find other shooters. A proper 3 and D SF who was super efficient would be nice."

Now, that said, I would want to move Demar anyway because he is going to demand 20+ million on his new deal.

Problems:

1. Those shots from LMA would probably be long two's.

2. We don't have other shooters.

3. That proper 3 and D SF is going to cost a s*** ton (Middleton, Carroll).

It's a good concept, though, I totally see the idea.

"Is DeAndre Jordan really a better player than DeMar DeRozan? I’m not buying it for a second."

Yes lol. Is he a much better player than DeRozan? Still 100% yes

Derozan is the most overrated athlete in Toronto since Joe Carter, and he hasn't even hit a winning shot to win the finals(or any playoff game for that matter) to warrant all the love.

Hahaha. I won't even read the article because of that quote.

How do these people have their current jobs?

Rick Bonnell (covers the Bobcats):Team to watch regarding Bismack Biyombo's unrestricted free agency: Toronto Raptors.

I would be happy with him as our backup 5

Omg the bobcats are dumb, Bismack plz. If only we could combine his defense with Vals offense, that would be the best center in the league.

Is Bismack any good?

Hornets are a terrible org. If he goes to a real team I think he can develop into a starting center. He's still only 22.

The D League announcement seems like a good thing.

Very much so. Previously we had no control over how much time our prospects would get and how they would be used, what they focused on etc.

Can control all of that now - could be a wonderful development tool if used correctly

Marc Stein ‏@ESPNSteinLine 8h8 hours ago

Word I hear is that Wes Matthews (@wessywes2) is ahead of schedule on his Achilles rehab and drawing interest from Toronto as well as Dallas

Blazers north, lets go Masai!

Other moves would clearly have to be made because there isn't enough salary to go around. Hopefully a demar trade

Not sure about Matthews after reading this. http://www.cbssports.com/nba/fantasy-basketball-today/25095586/history-not-kind-for-ruptured-achilles

Hopefully it's on a big discount if they're signing him.

I doubt it would be at a discount. That is such a small sample size too - Matthews game doesnt really rely on freak athleticism. I would be okay with taking the risk, maybe they'll try a short term prove it contract

4th team in ONE WEEK for Luke Ridnour. That's unheard of.

In summer of '09, Q-Rich went from NYK to MEM to LAC to MIN to MIA.

Not quite in one week - but that's the closest thing to this scenario

What's the cost on Luke? Per year?

The reasons for Ridnour getting dealt so frequently are a matter of salary cap minutiae, but here's a quick explanation: Ridnour's $2.75-million contract is non-guaranteed until July 11, which serves to make him an attractive trade chip, enough so that it's quite likely he gets traded again.

A non-guaranteed deal can essentially serve as a salary cap exception. Because salaries have to closely match in trades - the exact proximity of incoming and outgoing salary changes depending on the cap situation of the teams involved - a non-guaranteed deal allows teams to artificially inflate the amount of outbound salary in a trade, allowing them to take on more incoming salary.

To illustrate for the Raptors: Say they wanted to sign-and-trade forLaMarcus Aldridge, allowing Aldridge to get a slightly larger four-year max from the Portland Trail Blazers instead of the four-year max Toronto can offer. The Raptors could clear the requisite cap space and take Aldridge into their cap room, but they'd have to renounce the rights to several of their free agents to do so. If they can send Portland enough salary, they can take Aldridge on and keep the rights to at least some of their free agents, while also helping Portland recoup something in the deal.

Having Ridnour's $2.75-million deal on hand gives the Raptors a means of sending out more salary, and Portland can turn around and waive Ridnour at no cost to themselves.

These same machinations would be true for any deal Toronto - or Ridnour's next team - wanted to make. When free agency begins on Wednesday, teams can't make moves until July 9, so Ridnour's window of trade utility exists for July 9 and 10 only. It remains possible the Raptors keep Ridnour - head coach Dwane Casey and new assistant Rex Kalamian are said to be fans - but he'll almost certainly be waived ahead of July 11 if he's not included in a trade of some sort.

So Matthews wants a deal in the 15M range. He's probably better off signing a 1 year deal to prove hes still the same player. No way I'd give him that on a 3 year deal coming off an injury

Yah, thats what I was suggesting earlier. A prove it contract could work really well in his favor with the cap going up the next 2 years, if he truly believes his level of play will remain the same.

A 1 year 13 million contract would be interesting. Maybe a sign&trade with Ross going the other way to free up cap room.

Either way this should be a much more interesting off season than last

Meh, the fact that 7 out of 18 never returned is enough to give me worry.
