Yeah I didn't expect him to get that emotional since he's known for months that he was being picked first and by which team for a while too. Seems like a really nice kid.

Bol Bol dropped hard in the draft. He would have been a nice pickup if the Raptors had the opportunity. I know super tall players don't make it much of anywhere in the league anymore but I'm surprised no one was willing to use their late first round pick on him. He's an actual basketball player not a string bean with limbs like his dad was.

 

Also, what's up with that name? I'm hoping that's some kind of Sudanese tradition.

I think it's the same name as his f***ing 8 foot grandfather or great grandfather, the Dinka tribe chief who started the Bol rolling

I imagine Bol’s drop is about his medicals rather than talent. They also downplayed Porter’s injury last year making it seem crazy that he dropped to mid-1st round. He was talked about as being a #1 overall during the season, Bol going from a mid-1st rounder to 2nd would seem about right if teams thought he was going to miss time

 

I don’t know a ton about basketball injuries but there’s probably not a great long-term history for 7+-footers and serious foot injuries

6 months? The city of Toronto has hated him for over a decade. He was widely despised well before he ever ran for Premier. I would argue that his time in office has little to do with it.
