burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 I'm super excited for the season. Everything I've heard from Nurse so far makes me extremely optimistic he will be a very good coach in this league.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Can't wait for the Butler to Raptors trade.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Can't wait for the Butler to Raptors trade. Do these rumours have legs?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Do these rumours have legs? No. Been rumoured to the Heat.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Things I did not know: Ibaka has a cooking channel on YouTube...
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 No. Been rumoured to the Heat. They asked for Simmons from the 6ers.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 Things I did not know: Ibaka has a cooking channel on YouTube... It's pretty funny, there's one with Demar, I think that was the last one he released.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2018 Posted September 28, 2018 I love the chip Demar has on his shoulder. He seems hell bent on shoving this deal down Ujiri's throat. It's really a no win for him. If he's the same old Demar then he really has nothing to complain about as the narrative about him was 100% accurate. If he is able to crank it up and take it to another level then the question is, where was this play when we needed it in Toronto? He needs to get over it, shut up, and go be a good player and teammate in San Antonio.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted September 30, 2018 Posted September 30, 2018 I haven't seen underhand free throws in a while.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 Ibaka just missed a wide open dunk
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2018 Posted October 3, 2018 Ibaka just missed a wide open dunk ibaka and powell are absolute crap. So much money invested into those 2 too
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Good thing this is a preseason game. Lowry looks absolutely awful.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 10, 2018 Posted October 10, 2018 Good thing this is a preseason game. Lowry looks absolutely awful. So does Serge outside that one emphatic block.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted October 11, 2018 Posted October 11, 2018 Kawhi's hands are bigger than my entire head
43211234 Verified Member Posted October 12, 2018 Posted October 12, 2018 The Raptors won 134-119 over the Pelicans tonight with Kawhi, Lowry, JV, Ibaka, VanVleet, Wright and Green not playing. And NOLA were pretty much playing their full squad with relatively high minutes. Davis played 31 minutes and the rest of the starters and Randle were 25+. Doesn't mean much of anything in the preseason but it's noteworthy.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 So are the Lakers going to make the playoffs? Or is this the start of LeBron’s retirement tour?
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 I am so excited for this season. It's business time. The East is going to be really interesting this season. Seeing if the 76ers and Bucks can challenge the Raptors and Celtics will be fun!
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 13, 2018 Posted October 13, 2018 So are the Lakers going to make the playoffs? Or is this the start of LeBron’s retirement tour? Lol retirement tour, he's still arguably the best player in the league. I don't know if the Lakers are good enough yet to make the playoffs, but LeBron's career is far from over as things stand.

I don't know if the Lakers are good enough yet to make the playoffs, but LeBron's career is far from over as things stand. LeBron is still godly but he’s got to start to wind down at some point. IMO the Lakers are worse than either version of the 2017/18 Cavs (i.e. pre and post the Thomas trade), and the move seems to be more about positioning his post NBA career than trying to win another ring.

The Lakers with LeBron are probably the most attractive free agent destination in the league, the only reason why I wouldn't bank on this team making the playoffs this year is that the Western conference is much tougher than the East. This Lakers team isn't really much worse than the 2018 Cavs and has a much higher ceiling with younger players. Yes LeBron will eventually start declining, but barring any major injury (which is possible due to his incredibly high mileage) he's far from not playing at an elite level. Dirk Nowitzki was only a year younger than LeBron currently is when he beat the Heat in 2011 and he wasn't the athletic freak that the latter is. This move to LA may have had a lot of PR and personal reasons attached to it beyond his own playing career, but it certainly does not signify the beginning of the end for him.

Agree with some of these points, and also that if the Lakers were in the East they’d definitely make the playoffs. I don’t think it’s at all certain that playing with a 35 year old LeBron in 2019/2020 is that enticing if the Lakers miss the playoffs this year. IMO LeBron is too old to waste a year now, but you never know maybe he believes he can do to the West what he’s been doing to the East for years and drag an average team into contention this year.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 14, 2018 Posted October 14, 2018 LOL at the debate if the Lakers are going to make the playoffs. Let's put this into perspective, the Lakers are 8 to 1 to win the Western Conference, behind the Warriors at -1,000,000,000 and the Rockets at 5 to 1. Next up is OKC at 25 to 1. So yeah, the expectation is that the Lakers will make the playoffs. The Western Conference isn't THAT good, in that it's so deep that teams like DeRozan's Spurs, T-Wolves and Blazers are going to keep the Lakers out of a top 8 seed.
KevinGregg Verified Member Posted October 17, 2018 Posted October 17, 2018 Just want to post here to say I am super stoked for the Raps opening game tonight. Now that Lebron is out of the East this team is going to make a finals appearance no problem!
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 FVV has such a great understanding of what's happening on the court.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted October 18, 2018 Posted October 18, 2018 And Ibaka misses another wide open dunk...
