jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 Outside of a few playoff games has JV ever shown he can be a difference maker? Post ups are really inefficient shots so he's no use there. He's a great rebounder and good at setting screens but his defence gets exploited where he just isn't that good of a player. If JV +++ for Cousins is remotely possible I'd do that in a second. He's almost unplayable agaisnt the Cavs because of Frye and Love.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 We need to start making shots against good teams. This is just embarrassing. Outplayed and outworked.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 We need to start making shots against good teams. This is just embarrassing. Outplayed and outworked. The Raps are a really good team. They are not an elite team and cannot hang with the other elite teams without a legit 3rd option aside from Lowry and Derozan. Basically, the Raps have to play the best ball they can play with everything going their way with the elite team not playing their best in order to beat them as the roster sits right now. The only real question is whether Ujiri will actually pull the trigger on an in season deal and pay the price needed to bring in that 3rd piece, or wait until the offseason to address. On the plus side of trading for a guy midseason (like Millsap who is expected to decline his option at the end of the year)is that they would gain his bird right so they could go over the salary cap to retain him if they wanted to. The downside.. obviously would be they would shatter their own depth in order to do that given that it cost them probably 3-4 roster players and a pick to get him.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Supposedly we had a deal in place for Millsap over the summer before the Hawks lost Horford and they pulled the plug.

Also giving 5 year Max contracts to Lowry and Milsaap (who's 32) and going deep into the luxury tax might not be the best idea. They have been the best offence in history, they don't need a 3rd scoring option...What they need is better defense. Derozan and JV on the floor together are a trainwreck at that end.

The third scoring option is not for the regular season though, it's for the playoffs when you can reliably count on one of Lowry or Derozan being focused on and being somewhat contained from 1 game to the next.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Welp, Kyle Korver likely going to the Cavs.
Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Welp, Kyle Korver likely going to the Cavs. Not much odds really.....we ain't beating the Cavs. All we have is DD and KL realistically.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 Get Millsappp If Atlanta is blowing it up, Raps should be 100% in on him.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 6, 2017 Posted January 6, 2017 If Atlanta is blowing it up, Raps should be 100% in on him. It was confirmed that they had a deal IN place for him over the summer so I'm sure they will go after him again. I want to see Norman Powell get full time minutes somewhere just as a basketball fan. He's already better than half of the starters in the league. In a perfect world Ross is the one being shipped out

thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Bulls still own them, what's new.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Not an excuse for how awful this team can be but these refs are visibly kissing the Bulls' ass because Wade is old or something.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 The funny thing is if you pole 100 random NBA fans, the majority will say Demar Derozan is better
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 8, 2017 Posted January 8, 2017 Didn't watch any of the game. How did Bebe play at the 4 with JV?

They gave up 17 offensive rebounds. Mostly notably one that lead to a open three for McDermott while Nogueria was in no man's land when the shot went up

Mostly notably one that lead to a open three for McDermott while Nogueria was in no man's land when the shot went up Nogueira was so, so bad all night long. He was getting abused by Felicio on the glass. He literally just couldn't grab a rebound with two hands even when it fell in his lap.

He does fit right in with the rest of the team though when it comes to not boxing out. I'm not sure where Carroll gets his "junk yard dog" rep because he doesnt rebound either. Hopefully Sullinger doesn't have any set backs

I keep hearing how good of an addition he will be but he's a fat undersized C who's good at rebounding and nothing else.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Wait, so you're telling me that even though small ball and Golden State and buzzwords, keeping a good basketball player on in the 4th quarter over a worse one works out well?
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 It's almost as if Valanciunas is substantially better than Nogueira or something.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 It's almost as if Valanciunas is substantially better than Nogueira or something. He had a better game but he's been worse this season. Maybe (Hopefully) he's healthy and he can turn the corner.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Bebe has been great! Are there really people complaining about him? Get back to me when jv can defend a disabled person!
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted January 12, 2017 Posted January 12, 2017 Bebe has been great! Are there really people complaining about him? Get back to me when jv can defend a disabled person! Org seems to not be a fan. His rebounding is terrible and he's still has rough parts of his game but his hands and touch around the rim + his length on defense more than make up for it. His On/Off number are elite.
