Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 The 76ers are looking good tho. Would be looking better had they not taken Okafor. Embiid is nasty. Yeah it only took them three years of setting or nearly setting all sorts of futility records in order to maybe have a chance at the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference next year.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 The sixers are a joke lol What they did was embarrassing

You could argue that Embiid, Simmons, youth and cap space is more likely to result in a championship than Lowry + Demar.

I like how you say it as if the Raptors don't have any other pieces to work with. Like they didn't just win 56 games and are arguably just as good as last year if not better while the Sixers might not get to 20 wins...again. And yeah win totals are dumn but only one of those teams has a strong shot at making the Eastern Conference finals again. Winning is good.

All I'm saying is you could present an argument saying there's a similar likelihood. Would you like to address that statement?
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 I'll take the team that can be consistently over .500 with a 5% chance at winning a championship over the 5 years than the team that has tanked to record proportions, will probably average being under .500 for the next 5 years but might have a fluke season thus improving their chances of a championship to 10% during that time. I don't get the mindset of championship or bust under all circumstances. The Blue Jays and the Marlins both have 2 World Series under their belts. The Marlins have done it in less years. Would anyone argue that the Marlins are a better franchise than the Jays? No. The Marlins are an absolute joke. And so are the 76ers.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted November 3, 2016 Posted November 3, 2016 Raptors were unintentionally tanking for most of their existance up until this run. The 76ers are just doing it intentionally but now they f***ed up by hiring colangelo lol.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 4, 2016 Posted November 4, 2016 Durant with 29 points in the half
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 So the Lakers are going to beat the Warriors?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 So the Lakers are going to beat the Warriors? it was a b2b but that still shouldn't happen.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 I said it before, I'll say it again. GS will have some struggles to start this season. They won't be bad but they're not going to be this unbeatable force that everyone just assumed.

Even in the post season they still have to go through SA and the Cavs

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Remember before the start of last season when the Pelicans and Anthony Davis were the popular darkhorse picks for playoffs? After last season's disappointment, they've started 0-7 despite Davis averaging 30 ppg.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Love him or hate him, Demar Derozan has extremely impressive body control. That comes from all the work that he puts in his off-time. Raps looking really good after a bad start.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 For a 4th year player Bebe makes so many rookie mistakes
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 And Westbrook takes a 30 foot three with 14 seconds left on the clock
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Impressive win considering they started down 8-0 or whatever it was. Lowry and Derozan played really well, Patterson and Carrol found their shots. Powell had some nice drives to the rim (still needs work on the defensive end). Everyone had a great game besides Poetl. I wish the NBA had a 60 game season. Raps with 2 full days off surely helped with their performance and around the NBA the quality would go up immensely.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 And Westbrook takes a 30 foot three with 14 seconds left on the clock Westbrook is so reckless on the court. The dude has a lot of talent but he takes a lot of terrible pull up jumpers and while his explosiveness is elite he can't just expect to drive over 3 defenders at the rim every other time.

I think Powell's defense is pretty strong. He's got really quick lateral movement and he doesn't make stupid fouls, he maintains his defender in front of him and gives the opposition little room to work with. I would say he needs to work on his offensive game a little more, but I think it's more about refining more than completely turning it around. He's pretty explosive but his finishing around the basket is subpar, though improving. His shot is also inconsistent, but you can tell that he puts in the work. I think with his work ethic he might be able to reach a DD level of finishing in the future.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 For a 4th year player Bebe makes so many rookie mistakes Probably has a lot to do with the fact that he hasn't played much due to injuries and being very raw.

He's extremely quick but he had a lot of blow by's in the game (not just Westbrook which obviously will happen) and it happened in the playoffs last year too. I think his finishing at the rim ability has improved a lot and while he's no Derozan he's certainly better than a lot of players. The shot seems streaky but at least he's smart. Basically takes a 3 or drives to the rim.

He also defends the teams best scorer generally when in games.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 bebe is good I turned on the game and he failed miserably trying to cut off westbrook on the baseline 30 feet away for the basket, sent him to the line and then didnt even try to box out Adams on the ensuing free throw attempt. He does a lot of things right and a lot of things still really wrong.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Lmfao, Spencer Hawes and the Hornets putting on a display of how not to play NBA basketball, and the home crowd starts booing.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Nogueira leaves his defender wide open after a screen, every single time. He doesn't realize this keeps happening.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Derozan wrecking s*** again.
