Hal Johnson Verified Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 That sucks that a guy has to lose is life because of a silly mistake. I agree. It's so senseless.
Hal Johnson Verified Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Pro-tip... don't go around kicking in doors. sad, but not a totally unexpected/reasonable outcome. I've had my house broken into while I was there, and I didn't have the slightest urge to kill the guy. Granted, it didn't get to the point that he kicked down my bedroom door, but after I heard him come in, I banged really loudly on my bedroom wall, yelled, "get the f*** out of here!", and the guy just ran away. I'm not gonna say people don't have the right to defend themselves, but people who break into houses almost never have violent intentions. Seriously, I'm not willing to kill some 20-23 year old kid simply because he wants to steal my TV. Just my perspective.
z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Totally agree. But that doesn't negate the fact it was a really bad call by him (right or wrong appt). Not that he 'deserved to die'or anything, just was a really stupid thing to do.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 but people who break into houses almost never have violent intentions. Yeah, but they probably don't kick down multiple doors to do it either.

I got real drunk once, so much so I had to get a cop to drive me to the place I was staying. It was 3am in mid February and went the cop dropped me off I accidentally went to the wrong house. Spent 10 minutes trying to break in to go to bed.... If I was in Texas I would have got shot and killed.
Caper Verified Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 My god watching Golden State shoot last night was something to be told. Honestly, I don't watch all that much basketball, But I never, ever saw shooting like that. I don't know how you stop that. Just hitting 3's at will. From 3 ft beyond the arc, no hesitation.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Why would you be kicking down the doors even if it was your gf's apartment? We'll probably never know because he's dead now but that's pretty bizarre.

I really can't blame the shooter though. Imagine seeing that guy coming at you at 3am, breaking down your bedroom door.

I'm a bit of a hippy when it comes to this sort of thing too, but a guy kicking down doors could easily be f***ed up on drugs and be big, big trouble. I don't really blame the shooter. I probably would have done the same thing too. If someone is going to act threatening I'm not going to allow even the smallest possibility that he might hurt me.

This would be very juicy bait for a gun rights activist. The point would be moot since I don't think you or the vast majority of Canadians have guns by their bedside.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 Even if my wife changed the locks on me, I'd be pissed...but I wouldn't start kicking down doors. People get way too angry way too fast. This whole situation could've been avoided with a bit more conversation ("Hey. Who are you? What do you want?"), and a little less smashing of doors.
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 What is the read on Toronto's payroll plans for the next two years? DeKobe - will they be dumb and re-sign? Lowry - will a DeKobe contract mean they can't fit Lowry in after 2016/2017? Biyombo - re-sign? Carroll - keep or try to move? Is he moveable? Ross - try to move? or was his contract a precursor to letting DeKobe leave? What is their relation to the cap? How much room is there?

We'll probably never know because he's dead now but that's pretty bizarre. Young, dumb, and full of cum. Combine that with the ego and all that goes along with being an NBA player - even if he was paid at league minimum. He was probably enraged and possessive. I'm guessing this wasn't the first time he'd gone into some kind of rage toward his girlfriend. I don't know that, but I think it's probably a good guess. The whole thing just sucks, and it's very sad and pointless all around.

DeKobe - Jewish guesstimate is 35% we re-sign Lowry - the cap has another spike after this year. We'll be able to fit them both but we'll be pressed against the new cap. We have Lowry and Demar's bird rights which means we can go over the cap to re-sign them Biyombo - No Carroll - Don't think we could/should move him, he can be really effective if we learn to use him Ross - Stupid f***ing contract please move Bonus: #9 pick - I want Chriss, I think we go Labissiererererere There's about $17m, but we can go over if we're giving it to Demar. To sign horford, we'd have to move Ross and then we'd be good. Actually, the Hawks might go for a sign and trade for that. And then the cap jumps another $15m or so next offseason.

Demar will re-sign but they'll still have room to re-sign lowry next off-season if they wish to do so because there will be another cap jump. Biyombo probably won't be re-signed unless JV is traded. Carroll is probably a negative asset but Ross should be easy enough to get rid of if they wish.

Ross - try to move? or was his contract a precursor to letting DeKobe leave? What is their relation to the cap? How much room is there? now for my opinion based stuff... I think they will be dumb and re-sign DeRozan. At first I was thinking Masai might play it close to his vest and get Demar to sign for fair value (READ: Not a max deal), which is still possible, but the more I think about it the more I see some other dumb team offering him max money and Ujiri giving in. The Terrence Ross contract shows that Ujiri is not immune to questionable contract decisions. I dont think we have too big of a problem re-signing Lowry after next season. With the cap explosion and our current contract commitments + expensive DeRozan I think we would only have to clear roughly $6m-$10m. Biyombo is gone. They will keep Carroll for as long as they can. He really is an important player for us. We are weakest at SF and he compliments are big players perfectly. They will keep Ross for 1 more year at least. He seems like a prime candidate to be moved in the future though. Signing him to the extension was just a move to cover their ass and maybe create a little bit of leverage. If DeRozan leaves they have SOMEONE who they know. If DeRozan stays then they have a potential trade asset as soon as DeMar signs. If Demar gets $25m max deal then he eats practically all of our cap space and our PF position is f***ed.
crazy47larry Verified Member Posted May 29, 2016 Posted May 29, 2016 The Lakers and 76ers will reportedly pursue DeMar DeRozan as an unrestricted free agent this offseason. DeRozan has said time and again that his preference would be to remain with the Raptors, but after shooting just 39.4 percent from the field through Toronto's postseason run, it'll be interesting to see if the Raptors are willing to give DeRozan a max-deal. A max-contract for DeRozan will clock in at around $145 million over five years, which will impact Toronto's ability to bring in additional pieces, such as re-signing Bismack Biyombo. That being said, DeRozan is sure to receive a max offer from someone this summer, so Toronto is going to have some tough decisions to make. Source Article = http://www.sportsnet.ca/basketball/nba/just-much-derozans-love-toronto-worth/ made me lol. go to LAL and live in Kobe's shadow for a terrible team + org. hometown though (chyea). or go to PHI and just... yikes. but hey i'm sure colangelo still loves him.
