casey and demar gone if they lose this series... blessing in disguise

Casey is not going anywhere. Masai already said this before the series. It's not happening, get it out of your head, stop being happy that they're losing FFS.

Best we can hope for is the end for Derozan, which seem highly probable at this point.

Who would replace him? Forgive me, I'm a total casual with basketball.

Who cares. I just want him to go away.

But Powell's probably already better

I think it would be Powell who is already a better player.

Powell if no one is brought in would seem like the best in-house replacement, but Ross will likely get a lot of undeserved starts.

The difference between Casey and a slightly above average coach can't be more than a win or two. Unless we were getting a damn good coach, which I don't see, it's more of a "Would be a really nice thing" than a necessity. Demar leaving is probably a necessity.

I'm very pleased all of our best players have been wasting energy for the last 5 minutes.

It wouldn't make them worse.

I'll take your word for it. I would just be surprised if a team that just won 56 games would let their top scorer go, then rely on a guy like Powell, and expect to go further.

Powell is a more complete player. Plays good defense. Wouldn't be the focal point of the offense and that's fine.

Okay, I see what you're saying. Then I guess my question is, how would they replace what DD did this season?

DeRozan doesn't even look like he's trying out there. You can at least tell Lowry is giving it his all and is trying to find ways to help out the team.

Just different usage rates for the rest of the players. The hardest thing to replace would probably be his ability to get to the free throw line, but Powell has a pretty good mentality in that he drives to the rim a lot.

DD's last game in a Raptors uniform this Sunday. Raps will keep Lowry.

i dont care what masai says. if we lose game 7 casey should be gone. plus a vote of confidence from the gm in public almost always means the opposite in private.

this team is so garbage in the 2nd half of games, and even worse right in the 3rd quarter. i feel like that is the easiest trait to show that a coach is bad. after the break u go into the half and make adjustments. sounds pretty f***ing simple to me. i dunno if casey simply ignores that or if his adjustments are s*** but either way this is a huge trend. we have coughed up leads in 3Q all season long. we could make it up with hot shot shooting in 4Q in the regular season but that is out the window now. demar is flopping around worse than a catfish on the dock and lowry's got a broken wing.

game started off so friggin well too. f***ing f***in f***.

I dont know, this series has been a game of who can throw the hardest. Watching the Miami and Charlotte game tonight though didn't look much better either

Lowry is doing the best he can, it seems. DeRozan getting 8 points on 3/13 shooting is ridiculous. Is DeRozan the RA Dickey of basketball?

That's the thing, even when Lowry isn't making shots he's still defending and still making plays distibuting the ball. Derozan on the other hand has 1 talent, and that's getting to the free throw line. He's bad defensively, can't create his own shot and if the set plays aren't there, he's a turnover waiting to happen.

Derozan is like a guy who hits homeruns but doesn't provide value on defense or maintain a good OBP. Joe Carter?

Oh, I see. I said RA Dickey because he looks awesome one game, and then terrible the next.

Well even his good games can be deceptive. He pads his counting stats through sheer volume but he doesn't defend well and most infuriatingly he creates a lot of opportunities for the other team off his missed shots. If you look at his 2016 playoffs game log, you'll see that his overall +/- is negative. He really has to do a lot offensively to make up for all the opportunities he creates for the other team and when he doesn't, his overall impact is negative. As other pointed out, he's at his best when he can drive to the net and draw fouls. When he doesn't draw the foul, he ends up settling for a terrible shot like a double coverage fading jumper, a two from just inside the line or an awkward three attempt airball.

Maybe you guys should stop trying to compare basketball players to baseball. DeRozan was a very efficient scorer this year, he wasnt a volume shooter.

Ive mentioned this for probably a couple of years now but Demar has success in the regular season when the intensity is lower and he can bully less talented/smaller players. The minute he goes against someone his own size and they go into post season try hard mode, he crumbles.

Our fearless coach never seems to address and just trots him out there because he's "earned" the chance to either let this team succeed or fail.

If both of them aren't gone this offseason, regardless how well they do on Sunday or in the second round, I'm done.
