Scola really cost us tonight on a number of opportunities. Zero contributions on defense or on the glass, he's a bigman FFS he shouldn't have to tap the ball to another teammate when he could just grab the rebound himself.

 

Yeah if he didn't add the 3 pointer to his game he would be completely useless. Even as is he is not good and I think come playoff time the lack of depth at the 4 will haunt them.

Patrick Patterson is still salvageable imo

Patterson and Biyombo are both good options off the bench and neither have a big salary hit. Scola's the only problem

Biyombo is infuriating on the offensive end but eh, he's a nice cheap bench piece.

 

Patterson has looked a lot better since the start of the year. His mobility and the fact that he's actually going for boards this year (dunno how often he's actually getting them but he's more aggressive in the process) are useful. Hopefully he finds his stroke again

I saw some random stat today, while I know +/- isn't the end all be all, I thought it was interesting. Patterson is 10th in the league in most +20 games and #1 of all bench players

He also comes off the bench which weakens his competition.

Terrance Ross and Corey Joseph are also right up there. Toronto's bench is just flat out better than most teams. Won't mean much come playoff time and starters are playing close to 40 minutes a game

I would think its because of the Lowry + bench lineup. They crush pretty much every game. Lowry, Joseph, Ross, Patterson, Biyombo

Obviously those stats don't paint him well but he is in the majority of their positive net lineups, I don't think he's quite as bad as you're saying.

No they have like 4 picks. It would just be a reasonable mid-late first pick I would assume.

Still Schroder's stats suxxxxxx and unless he just looks a lot better in person a protected pick even seems fair

Really? He doesn't shoot 3s well and he's a PG. He's an RFA at the end of the year too obviously. I don't know why a team would pay more than a mid first. Is he a good defender?

He's not anything special on defense but he's not a terrible shooter and can drive to the rim/pass reasonable well last time I checked. Again, he's 22, black and quick. GMs pay a lot for that.

Fair enough. You could always just take a younger cheaper quicker black guy in the draft though!
