Getting to the 2nd round will significantly improve our chances of landing a good FA replacement at the 4 spot for next year. Our seeding is very important.

If the team takes Cleveland to 6 or 7 games in the first round and loses I don't see it being much of a detriment to landing a FA compared if they beat the Bucks in the first round by 5 games then lose to the Hawks in 4 or 5.

Edit: Getting a legit coach would have much more power with FA no matter what round this team gets to.

Most of the critics of JV's defense talk about his poor PnR/help defense

Like what could JV do better on the following plays (notably the Suns/GSW clips)? The guards get burned and cannot keep their guys in front of them..

Our system is just too reliant on help defense. Guys are not held accountable for keeping their guys in front of them/preventing penetration/fighting through screens. JV is a huge building block moving forward. He could be with this team for another 6-7 years but they refuse to change the system to be more suitable for him.

I don't understand the point of our offense. The first couple plays were basically a ball handler standing up top with nobody else moving or doing anything... Basically just wasting time. Move, cut, do something FFS.

I feel like our bigs being such s***** passers really limits this offense. Once you get a post-up going with JV its pretty much a lock that he's going to try a hook shot or is just going to kick it back out again. You rarely see these guys cut into the lane when he has the ball.

DeRozan's passing has been on point lately. He's not scoring much as a result, but he's drawing defenders and getting his teammates wide open looks. You can swallow a few dumn long 2's when he's spreading the ball like this.

Also seems to be shooting more 3s. Although they aren't really falling.
