dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 What a way to highlight your 1,000th post. Why attack the poster rather than the post? Did I? I asked him a simple question.
JaysWS2013 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 The first part I would agree with however Bonifacio will not be with the team too long in my opinion. The jays have a roster jam so if Anthopoulos can come up with Bonifacio as part of a package for a good, relatively young, athletic 2Ber (or some other area where he sees a need) it will be done sooner than you can blink your eye. I still believe he is still all about improving the team as the Jays go forward. Thanks for sticking up for me. Actually as for Bonnie goes, I put a ? Mark to ask about his salary. After reading some users older posts, I can see a lot of the posters on this board are really harsh. I know I shouldn't be asking If their are friendlier jays forums, but do you recommend any?
JaysWS2013 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 There*. You've made that mistake twice now. I'm also assuming the I'd is an autocorrect for if. http://www.dailywritingtips.com/there-their-theyre/ I'm typing on a iPhone and honestly what difference does it make if I write. "There-their-they're" you did understand the post, right?
JaysWS2013 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 You're not as bad as backontop at least. I see you have to watch every word that is written on to a post. I think the admin should require a grammar checker as well as a spell check before every post is submitted.
Auldphartt Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Ok no problem. Why are people on this board so aggressive? I was making a statement and I get bombed for making a spelling error. They didn't bomb you for the spelling error. It was the statement. As for the response, you have to understand that many posters came here from the official MLB board to try to avoid trolls, censorship, and to some degree, noobs and casuals.
bzapple Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 LOL this is killing me . 'Bonnie'!!!! Sounds like Emilio just got a new nickname.
JaysWS2013 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 http://www.forums.mlb.com/ml-bluejays You'll probably find this community more to your liking. There's also a pretty big facebook group . Thanks. Appreciate that. I like this board because their is continuous chat about the jays. Just wish their would be friendlier people.

The nature of an online forum does not normally support something like what you are looking for. It will need to have clearly defined rules/guidelines while being heavily moderated - Such strict rules can, and most probably will, be seen as a deterrent to passionate discussions. I would like to see less of the personal attacks and the cursing (especially as I am not comfortable opening this forum at work) however I am most probably in the minority and that's not in my control. If someone is too sensitive/thin-skinned for such interactions then they should really stay away from places like these.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I know Beurle has a huge contract and Bonafacio has as well? Beurle hasn't been consistent at all this year and throws too many home runs. Do you think we can trade him as well as Bonnie for a decent prospect? Get rid of their contracts and maybe trade someone else for a decent arm and a bat? You think their are takers? Look, there are a lot of really, really stupid posters that show up around here so we tend to view new people with suspicion, so yes, we can come off as abrasive and combative (and we tend to be pretty high on spelling/grammar in general around here...) As to the substance of your post "Do [we] think we could trade Buehrle and Bonifacio for a decent prospect", no. Firstly, Buehrle is absolutely required on this team right now, we are skating on thin ice with this rotation as it is, and unless some people get healthy (Morrow, Happ), get right in the head (Romero) or take major steps forward (Nolin, Stroman) the 5 man rotation we have right now is ALL we have. Secondly, Buehrle's contract is ugly, very very ugly, and it would be hard to move for anything, much less a "decent prospect". Adding in the shitshow that is Bonifacio isn't going to do much to up that (though he does have SOME value in a trade, it's not much.) Thirdly, this team is above .500 and very much in the playoff hunt (despite what some of the lesser-brained posters around here may think) so trading core pieces (I'm referring more to Buehrle and your nebulous "someone else" than Bonifacio here) is simply not going to happen. Anyways, welcome to the board! There are some incredibly knowledgeable baseball minds that post here, and if you are willing, you can learn a lot from them and have good discussions. Our salty demeanour comes mostly from the fact that we have a tonne of PRATT threads and comments, and have since we were all back on the official bluejays.com message boards.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Holy s*** some of you need to lighten up. Agreed, some people on here jump down someones throat as soon as they post something they don't agree with, it's crazy. Need some pills.

Answer my question... are you the same guy from the old forum that every post consisted of bashing Gibby? I would like to know so I can make sure to not open your threads.
JaysWS2013 Verified Member Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 Its not even that though - I think new fans would be very welcome here. What we don't need is someone starting threads to share such stimulating thoughts as "I hear Burle and Bonafacio have high salaries. Maybe they should be traded for prospects" I didn't realize Bonifacio contract was that low. Also I remember hearing, AA saying after Itzuris was signed, they didn't need him. I figured if another club would take on beuhrles contract and take most of his salary, that would free up some cap space and get ourselves another high quality pitcher.

I have no idea what the general age of this or the old board was but it reminds me of when I was like 17-20. Trying my very hardest to show everyone just how smart I was and would let the littlest of things get me rattled.

What we don't need is someone starting threads to share such stimulating thoughts as "I hear Burle and Bonafacio have high salaries. That's reason-enough for the angry lynch mobs to raise their pitch-forks and light their torches... persecuting and condemning the deviant is the only logical course of action.

TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Get used to it, there are a bunch of dominant posters on here, if you say something they disagree with they will insult and gang up on you quickly. Then they will call you the troll lol. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7B0wOF8dDsg/UJfKvIqeebI/AAAAAAAAA4s/bYoH7YPx2lc/s1600/alpha_male.jpg
TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 My Bonnie parody song time? Yes some people jump down the throats of posters very quickly but after years of being trolled when a really bad suggestion comes up it's tougher to look at someone as "uneducated" on the subject, rather than just trying to get a reaction out of people. To answer the OP's question, Buehrle has a lot less value in trade (without a lot of money going the other way) than he does going out and giving the Jays some innings. For the rest of his time in Toronto he's never going to get traded for a good prospect. If he's pitching well enough to have that value he's staying, if he's not pitching well enough for us, he's got no value to anyone else.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 My Bonnie parody song time? Are you implying that you want Bonifacio's rights traded to a Japanese team?

TheHurl Site Manager Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Mark Buehrle + emilio Bonifacio= Boobies Deal? Eric Filia is currently not a top 500 prospect for the 2014 draft...he'll probably get top 5 rounds just because of the recognition that his girl gets him (the plays he made in the OF, and raising his average 30 points in the playoff games won't hurt I suppose)

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Look what I've done! Lol I'll probably still call him "Bonerface". Also, I move that we re-christen the Lo Vista and call it "Bonerfacing"
