Need to get some numbers

But compared to the home crowds from May they seem to be bigger every day now

Would be very happy if this keeps up after the winning streak ends

One big factor is school is done now, numbers always go up. The streak is also helping.

+1, I know I'll be getting out to more games.

Prior to today's game, jays are averaging 30,062 per game. 2012 end of season average was 25,921. Could top 35k average by end of season if they climb back in this race and play meaningful baseball in August and September

Attendance has been trending upward the last few years. Even with the bad start this year, they were pulling some decent crowds. Now that summer is finally here, school is out, Jays streaking, it should be solid attendance right through Labour Day. And if the Jays are still in a playoff race, watch out.

You also have to factor in how many people who go to the games wear Jays' merchandise, it's really impressive to see although I guess you could say that about a lot of teams, but there's a lot of potential out there. I think this uptrend in attendance, merchandise sales and interest in the team played a huge role in ownership telling baseball operations to go out and get players and to make sure they didn't strike out on FA's so they had to go and overpay in the trade market. Anyway, good to see.

YES. I started noticing that last year. In the past you wouldn't see too many people wearing Jays gear at the games. Maybe like half the people would wear a hat, and rarely someone would wear a shirt or jersey or whatever. But with the new gear, people love clothing themselves in that. Seems like everyone at the games is wearing a hat and/or Jays t-shirt or jersey or what have you.

Even if this team makes the playoffs and does well this year, I doubt attendance will really rise that much during Monday-Wednesday games. People just dont want to go watch a baseball game early on in the week in Toronto

School is now out for most, I think attendance will continue to rise... Anybody know what the highest attendance was in the SkyDome??

The clothing is a massive hit all across the country. 5 years ago in Halifax I would be lucky to see one Jays shirt/hat being worn when walking around. Now... tons of people are wearing the gear. So great to see. Canada's team is bacK!

I'm in MTL and I see kids wearing hats from time to tome, like yesterday on my way to work.

1991 SkyDome 49,402 4,001,527

1992 SkyDome 49,732 4,028,318

1993 SkyDome 50,098 4,057,947

edit: the first numbers are average attendance

Including today, the Jays are on pace for just under 2.5M fans (just over 30K a game)... which is fantastic... Obviously those #s will increase if we get hot and keep drawing 45K on the weekends.

Yes re jerseys. They're everywhere.

New style and color is much better than the black

New players that casual fans can get excited about

It's a good sign

Amazing to see the Dodgers, last in their division, leading all of baseball with 43,00o+. Yet, the always competitive Rays draw less than 18 grand. Pathetic fans in TB.

Los Angeles area 10M people.

Tampa Bay area 4M people. Most of them not from Florida.

The stadium is out in the middle of bloody no where, quite frankly whoever thought it was a good idea to stick it there should be fired, if he already isnt. You pretty much have to drive all the way out there, can't just take the subway and have a nice 5 minute walk.

I agree with this, but its still a weak fan base regardless.

People from Tampa do not go to that dump known as St. Pete's. Period!

Florida is only good for spring training. Old people can't bother handling the grind of the regular season.

July 1st game is sold out. Got to be the first time in almost 20 years that a non opener is sold out a week in advanced.

So much for going to that game.

Expect 40K crowds on weekend if this team continues to be in the race. Exactly what ownership wanted when they told baseball ops to make sure they improved this team and striking out on FA's who didn't want to play in TO wasn't an acceptable excuse.

Amazing to see, lucky to have purchased 5 seats together. Stubhub might be the only option left.
