G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 That seemed the goal. Well guess what? They did it with WEEKS to spare. This team is a blast to watch right now. Let's enjoy the moment.
itsawrap Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 At least this win guarantees that we won't get swept, the Jays style historically (the typical huge letdown after a nice run). I love it, still can't believe it. Double digits tomorrow, LET'S GO
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 They DID IT!!!! I have said for almost 2 months now, just get to .500 by the end of June and now they still have a bunch of games to play in June. Lets keep this thing going, we go for 10 tomorrow.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Even Wilner, for all his homerism, was peddling "maybe they can get to 40-40 and go from there?" NINE IN A ROW!!! They did it sooner than I think the vast majority of people would have predicted. Its quite remarkable and I think it exemplifies how good this team really is. Just had some super s***** luck, and astoundingly terrible starts to begin the year.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 9 in a row I'm so happy right now
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 9 in a row! Make it 10 tomorrow afternoon.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 It's what you can do with starting pitching and enough offense. I always thought in my mind during the losing "maybe they can go on a crazy streak and get back to .500 immediately!", obviously never expected it to happen. To be fair, the starting pitching really didn't help much tonight.
Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 What's remarkable... we did it without Reyes, Lawrie, Morrow, Happ. Who would have seen this coming with Wang and Rogers? I'm so pumped for Reyes next week. Maicer and Boni are good guys, but I'm going to be thrilled when we don't have to see them both in the lineup every day.

Yeah, this is pretty epic and now we get to have some hope again.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Didn't Kirksaw mention .500... by June 21st? I recall that for whatever reason. That would be amazing.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 No stinkin' 9-gamer's gonna make me change my mind, season's over bros! Sell at the deadline and rebuild for 2022
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Guys, what will our approach to C. Davis be tomorrow? Intentional walks if runners on base? Throw at him intentionally... Not with the intention of hurting him or anything, just save 3 pitches that way...
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Throw at him intentionally... Not with the intention of hurting him or anything, just save 3 pitches that way... LOL , What great pitcher had that motto . when asked to intentionally walk someone he just hit him
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Meh.......I said it was plausible......but the record at the break means a lot more. sure I knew it was possible , but they way I felt was with the rotation we had the odds we hugely against it . Now we need to keep it up . play to win each series . not going to win them all but just win each series.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 What's remarkable... we did it without Reyes, Lawrie, Morrow, Happ. you add Lawrie in there as if his not being with the team is a bad thing? team has taken off since he went down. D at 3rd is a little down, but they dont miss his bat, his temper tantrums or his rage.

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I think there may be something to this hard for a team to gel when there is a rage monster running lose. Jose has been less of a douche since DeRosa threw him under the bus as well. just wish Jose could hit.

As a fan I think Lawrie is an idiot, but the players may not think so.

I did but that was a few weeks ago. They dropped a couple I hadn't expected and though I did see a turnaround coming, thought .500 was still 2 weeks away still because of the extra games under.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I also said they'd have 56 wins at the end of July. I now hope that I'm wrong. I'm looking for 58-59 now.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Is it too soon to throw all the AA nay sayers under the bus yet ? LOL
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Is it too soon to throw all the AA nay sayers under the bus yet ? LOL A little soon, ya. I like AA but Arencibia as the catcher? Really?

D at 3rd is a little down, but they dont miss his bat, his temper tantrums or his rage. I'm hoping that they give him a couple of days off a week in favor of EE/DeRosa/Izturis when he's back to remind him that the team has other options and he needs to play better, not talk better. It may also be beneficial to just watch the game, relax a bit and dial down his energy....ok, that's wishful thinking.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Jays looks like a different team, the harmony in the dugout is different when you win. We've always had the talent to do this and more, only we needed some luck and put things together. This is a talented group that only needs improvement in the rotation, catcher and a true corner outfielder. -Nolasco, Feldman, EJax, healthy Garza, Stults -Willingham, Alex Rios? -Jason Castro, Lucroy,
