KSaw Verified Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 Today he has 217 plate appearances and is a non qualifier for statistical leader boards. His cutoff is 120.1 plate appearances (3.1/team game). By Sunday or Monday he will be top 5 in the league for batting average and his name will appear for OBP, etc.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 trade him before he regresses! http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_kivXY8VyOkA/S9UBRON-9oI/AAAAAAAAAgA/0g7lHyXSVgg/s1600/the+look.jpg
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 it's funny.... in the offseason everyone was hoping Lind would get off to a good start so we could trade him for something now that he is actually doing it, everyone's gone silent

My mancrush on Lind has never taken so much as a second off!

However chances are if we trade Lind the value we get back will have less impact on the team than Lind is currently having.

Arkadium Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 If they are not in playoff contention they absolutely should sell high on Lind.... he did this exact same thing in 2011 before failing the rest of the way.

I can't think of anyone else in contention that needs him.
KSaw Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 The club is .500 and on the move. Lind is a key piece and has several team friendly options. He's not going anywhere this year!

Trading Boni might be the best option once Reyes comes back, assuming there are teams out there that are interested.

CHRIS Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 You're assuming that Kawasaki can play 2B. Where have you been? Kawasaki can do anything.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Seriously though, I do agree, for Kawasaki to stay he would need to be able to play a competent 2B. Not sure what his experience is there.

Lind has found his 2009 form thanks to Mottola. With Cito and Murphy out of his face, I don't see why he can't continue to be a consistent hitter. Don't forget Lind also flourished in the minors under Mottola also, so the ss is relevant. He isn't going anywhere.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 You're assuming that Kawasaki can play 2B. I would think the player that could play SS but not 2B would be the exception rather than the rule. The two positions are very similar.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 I would think the player that could play SS but not 2B would be the exception rather than the rule. The two positions are very similar. That's true but how long did it take Boni (who played 2B before) to not make errors? You could lose quite a few games just on that position.

You could lose quite a few games just on that position. The prevailing theories there are a) Bonerface isn't a very good fielder at any position or it's the fault of the turf.

You could lose quite a few games just on that position. Remember though, Boni played mostly OF last year if I'm not mistaken so the transition was far different. Kawasaki is a SS, the hardest position to play on the IF, so it'll be mainly the throw to 1st and the turning of the DP. NL infielders have also struggled with the turf it seems, so there might be something to the adjustment to the turf suggestion.
Hawkguy Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 Trading Lind would be one of the dumbest moves this team has ever made. They better keep him.

Caper Verified Member Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 The prevailing theories there are a) Bonerface isn't a very good fielder at any position or it's the fault of the turf. I think most think he's ok in the outfield. He has been more then passable at 2nd during June.... Just awful in April.
