Make the punk earn his way back into the lineup... Fat chance, but still wishing... I agree I havent missed his "antics" at all, he hasnt done much this year outside of his defense.
Anemic0ffense Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Pretty safe to say this is one of the bigger games of the year so far.... The difference between 5.5GB and 7.5GB is pretty dramatic. No confidence in Jays Wang to come up big though...

Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Agree The team is fun to watch again, and will only get better with Reyes back I don't miss Lawrie. At all. If only the starting pitching could find a way... Morrow or Johnson back and better, a successful second call up for Ricky, a better than expected few starts from Wang, Hutch or Drabek activated and pitching OK. There are lots of good things than COULD happen, but none of the above seems particularly likely. I fear the starting rotation will continue to be our Achilles heel all year... Yep I feel the same way and I used to be the biggest Lawrie fan. Dude needs to grow up fast or hes gonna have a short career.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I agree I havent missed his "antics" at all, he hasnt done much this year outside of his defense. His defense is and will be missed, but if the team continues to pitch well and climb towards .500 and with Reyes back, his defense will be missed a lot less. Hopefully, this would make him realize that it's not his team and he wasn't playing that well. A few trade rumors swirling around wouldn't hurt either as I think it would also help to make him realize he needs to change a few things to fulfill the potential he showed in the past.

Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 We only see Lawrie during gametime. Imagine being a teammate and having to be around this guy almost all day every day? He would drive me insane.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 So we're happy with Maicer Izturis and Mark DeRosa at third now..........Holy f*** shoot me NOW!! Noone said the replacements are good or that were happy with them. Just that some of the fans havent missed Lawrie as much as they might have first imagined. It's almost like his absence has turned down the temperature ALOT and its a good thing.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 16-14 with him out of the lineup now...15-22 with him in it. hmmm. Coincidence; Lawrie is not a starting pitcher.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 A lot of Toronto sports writers in this thread I see.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 As we all know, it all starts with the starting pitching. They've pitched well the last few games thus they've won 4 in a row. I don't think anyone's saying they're out of the woods by any means. I for one, have declared the season to be over for about 2-3 weeks and as a result have gotten over the frustration and disappointment of being wrong about the team and I'm enjoying the games quite a bit more than when they were losing. If they actually get back to .500 by or before the ASG, they may have a chance to go over .500 by a few games right after with a 10 game homestand. I'd be happy with meaningful games in August and September at this point.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Oh and they won't do a rebuild, the owners and president decided after the increase in attendance and interest last year that they'd ditch the long term building they had embarked on in favor of a 3-year window at least in their head. It's their team after all.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 This next 14 games (1 vs TEX, 3 vs COL, 3 vs BALT, 3 vs TB and 4 vs BOS) are the season. If we do well and go something like 9-5 or 8-6 then things will legitimately look up but if we tank and lose more then we win its over.
Arkadium Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Probably Baltimore? I'll just say it AGAIN-- I don't care if Boston is playing .600 baseball, they are way over their heads and they will tank out of first, past second and into third or fourth. Take away the 6-2 v Tampa, who they've owned and the 4 free wins against Houston, who were beyond bad at the time and that percentage comes a little closer to Earth. Yes I see the runs scored/ runs allowed. Mind boggling and it won't sustain. Boston is not the team to catch for the division. Baltimore is. The wild card? The #2 team in the west, the Yankees, maybe the Tribe or Royals. I don't even see Boston as a playoff team. LOL @ people still unwilling to accept BOS as the best team in the division. Are you forgetting that Orioles have horrible pitching, how long do you think their offense can carry them?
kcjaysfan Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Right now it's all about jumping teams, next up is Kansas City at 1.5 games ahead of jays. Just need to take it one team at time. Unfortunately for us, they've been playing well the last week and a half, after having that terrible stretch.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 If this team continues this run they are currently on it will start to get interesting. First goal is to get to .500 and it probably needs to happen by the end of June.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 It is definitely possible and this team has the talent, BUT again, sound like a broken record, it all comes down to pitching. Need Morrow, Dickey and Johnson to perform like we expect to have a chance. The bullpen and offense has done their job.... Still infuriates me that they were so behind in April might have cost them the season.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Where's the game day thread yo? who knows, its not a school day so fatcow has no excuse

While i agree with you, just want to point out that Baltimore's pitching is almost identical to ours. I still think Gausman produces for them this year and they get Chen back. They might do just enough to keep them around.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
