dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Unfortunately, this appears to be gaining traction. http://blogs.thescore.com/djf/2013/06/14/bowd-insanity-buehrle-for-ethier/ (Slightly NSFW because Stoeten and the picture) WTF... trade a bad contract for an EVEN WORSE contract and one who shouldn't even be an everyday player??? http://www.featurepics.com/FI/Thumb300/20080904/Suicide-Hanging-Stop-880333.jpg

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I kinda wonder what a buy-low on Starlin Castro would look like.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I kinda wonder what a buy-low on Starlin Castro would look like. Couldnt see anything but Lawrie being included in a package. I doubt our 3 top prospects are good enough to get him
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 The rangers refused to include Profar in a deal for Upton so why would they do a Bautista deal ?? Ace If JJ and Oliver both pitch well till the deadline do you think the cards would move Wong for that package ?? I sugested that in an earlier thread tonite .

Prob depends on the health of their starting as the trade deadline nears
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Not sure if mentioned, but I think, 100% we will see a Utley for prospect/Arencibia/Romero + Boni trade. Aging 2B on FA year with no extension talks = big trade candidate.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 AA likes trading emerging prospects who are hyped above their talent, maybe Osuna is that guy. If we could extend Utley and he played well leading up to the deadline, maybe I'd even be okay with that. Not Osuna!!!

Unless that prospect is Aaron Sanchez in which case f*** you AA *sigh* I hope not... because I can actually see that happen :/ AA likes trading emerging prospects who are hyped above their talent, maybe Osuna is that guy. If we could extend Utley and he played well leading up to the deadline, maybe I'd even be okay with that. Yeah I thought Osuna too. Maybe they'd be interested in taking a chance w/ Romero? Maybe him, Bonifacio (great NL player), and a lower-tier prospect could get it done
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Utley or Kinsler would just provide such stability in the infield. I think Texas is too in love with Kinsler to trade him I think lol. They'll find ways of keeping all 3 of their middle infielders in the lineup everyday.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Their prospects kinda suck. Only one I think more valuable than a comp pick is Crick. http://aleastbound.com/2013/06/13/mission-13-lets-make-a-deal/ Kinda stupid article for suggesting the second trade, but Infante and Avila are interesting by-lows. I would give them JJ for Crick
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 We're best just keeping Romero, nobody wants to take on any percentage of his contract. Bonifacio would be in it for sure. We'd then have to get Orr and Aumont in return with Utley, they could sell some tickets. Nobody wants Romero on his current contract. Anyone could have had him and every team let him pass through waivers.

I see a Nolin + Arencibia/(Romero+cash) deal for utley, though, and I would love that on an Utley extension.
Tuco Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Utley healthy (theres the rub) would look pretty good on this team. What about selling high on Janssen to a team like Detroit? Maybe aquire Porcello?

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Janssen for Porcello or Kolten Wong would be pretty nice. Detroit would seem to be a good fit for a number of different scenarios. Porcello/Smyly, possibly Castellanos. Heck, maybe even Avila is available if he's still struggling this much by the deadline. In a perfect buy low world, maybe we could nab Avila and Ackley.
LGBJ29 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Janssen for Porcello or Kolten Wong would be pretty nice. f*** that, best closer we've had in a decade for a borderline 4/5 starter with injury concerns? pass
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Janssen for Porcello or Kolten Wong would be pretty nice. The Cards would never do a Kolten Wong trade for Janssen as a main piece. Especially if they're looking for immediate bullpen help when Rosenthal fills in that spot nicely at the moment. Next year Motte will be back and Rosenthal moves to the rotation, so the Cards don't seem like they're in any desperate need for BP help.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 f*** that, best closer we've had in a decade for a borderline 4/5 starter with injury concerns? pass Porcello is legit bro. Sub 3 xFIP, I think. The Cards would never do a Kolten Wong trade for Janssen as a main piece. Next year Motte will be back and Rosenthal moves to the rotation, so the Cards don't seem like they're in any desperate need for BP help. I was mainly basing that off all those rumors earlier they wanted BP help, plus, Wong is obviously expendable with Matt Carpenter's True-Cardinalness break out year.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Oh, also, it's June 16th, which means that it's past June 15th, which means MAICER IZTURIS CAN BE TRADED yaaaaaaaay! #Trademouser #keepKawasaki #Kawasakiallstar2013
kgm1 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 As Hurl keeps pointing out the 40 man roster is a disaster. Trades had better happen . Bullpen pieces that don't have options remaining should be moved if value can be had . I would love to pry Wong out of the cards for a package and AA has dealt with them before .JJ healthy and throwing well would definitely interest them . Not getting much out of Davis but Cincy may be interested . Boni still has some value

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Nevermind, I just looked it up. You're probably right: http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/schedule/important_dates.jsp
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Would anyone else flip Melky off to a team for nothing just to rid us of his salary? He's still owed about $13 million, and has been a complete disaster here. IMO that cash is better used elsewhere next season. Janssen, Melky, Oliver and Lincoln for Castellano, Porcello and D prospect.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
