G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 zaun was on pts and was very critical of JPA. Said he was better in AA. complete turn around. Did say that the Jays do not have a catching coach and that JP should have had one this year. Zaun for catching coach!!!
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 JJ to Texas might work as well--Colby Lewis isn't ready yet, and Matt Harrison is out until rosters expand. And they'll need to shut down Tepesch and Grimm eventually due to innings.
Caper Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Trade Jansen to the Tigers. Great contract... Exactly what they need... But do they have anything we need? Don't know.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Trade Jansen to the Tigers. Great contract... Exactly what they need... But do they have anything we need? Don't know. You mean Janssen? Janssen for Drew Smyly or Rick Porcello would be really intriguing.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Their prospects kinda suck. Only one I think more valuable than a comp pick is Crick. http://aleastbound.com/2013/06/13/mission-13-lets-make-a-deal/ Kinda stupid article for suggesting the second trade, but Infante and Avila are interesting by-lows. That second deal is f***ing awful. He shouldn't be giving opinions for a living. On the first one.. maybe it makes sense of some level but Tigers and a here-and-now team. I would imagine they could go after minor pieces like that with some farm kids. Infante has been a solid everyday player for them.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Nope. One of the worst farms in the majors with just Nick Castellanos, Avisail Garcia, and a bunch of weak prospects.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Yes.. Porcello or Smyly would be a strong option. The Tigers don't have a lot of pieces on the farm.

I think you were trying to troll.. but really it's not a bad idea. Moving Janssen to a contending team that's willing to pay for it may be a really good idea.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Nope. One of the worst farms in the majors with just Nick Castellanos, Avisail Garcia, and a bunch of weak prospects. Oh, is that all?

digiblader Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Porcello and Smyly aren't prospects, Rondon is too raw, Crosby is trash.. and don't be fooled by Jose Alvarez--he's not a prospect.
digiblader Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Not happening, especially considering Freese may be moved instead due to the emergence of Matt Carpenter.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 He's not wrong lol, Tigers have a s*** farm system. Let's get Porcello, he's a stud. No, he's not
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 He's not wrong lol, Tigers have a s*** farm system. Let's get Porcello, he's a stud. They do, but Castallenos isn't "just" anything, and I enjoyed that "don't be fooled" part. Porcello's K-rate is surprising. I feel really bad for Dinger haha.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 striking out nearly eight per inning. Man, a lot of dropped 3rd strikes...
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 2.96 xFIP, striking out nearly eight per inning. Sign me up. He's decent (2-3WAR guy). -3BB/9, +50% GB rate but..............a lot of dingers
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 KLaw didn't have Castellanos in his top 30 midseason prospects list (which even includes guys in the Majors who haven't exhausted rookie eligibility). Nice prospect, but doesn't make up for having no depth. Well-below average #1 prospect. Ehh, agree to disagree. I like the kid.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Haha. Tigers don't really have much else that they could dangle, not sure Jays would even be a fit. I wonder if we could get Avila in a package as well.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Avila's been brutal, although that's maybe the reason they'd discount him for us. Am I correct in thinking he's a good defender? One of the best framers in the biz, according to Fast, and he seems extremely decent in terms of blocking and s***. He's my ideal buy low.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Let's get him then. Detroit is old school, maybe they'd see JPA as a suitable replacement. Dombrowski isn't THAT stupid, is he? JPA + Janssen for Avila + Porcello? I love Casey but I would do that in a second.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Avila's been brutal, although that's maybe the reason they'd discount him for us. Am I correct in thinking he's a good defender? Alex Avila is son of Al Avila, the assistant GM and a vice president of the Tigers. He'll stay at Detroit for long time.

JPA + Janssen for Avila + Porcello lol Only Amaro, Colletti or Ed Wade would do that kind of trade. Porcello 2-3WAR >> RP (Janssen) Avila >>>> JPA

Moving Janssen to a contending team that's willing to pay for it may be a really good idea. Not trying to troll at all. The Tigers don't have the Pen to get it done... If there is a type of player that you trade when they are on top of their game... It's a reliever... Throw in Oliver too... I don't think we have another Janssen... But we have a lot of candidates.. Just not sure if they match up.

Fearthedoc Verified Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Here is the interview with Zaun if you missed it: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/zaun-sounds-off-on-state-of-the-jays/ Basically says we should trade Arencibia, Johnson, Buehrle, Izturis, Davis, Rasmus, Lawrie etc He was then challenged that we would be selling Lawrie at his absolute lowest; and Zaun states that he doesn't see Lawrie's value going up from here.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I don't support it, but what do you guys think we could get for Lawrie? Probably something pretty f***in' good.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Here is the interview with Zaun if you missed it: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/zaun-sounds-off-on-state-of-the-jays/ Basically says we should trade Arencibia, Johnson, Buehrle, Izturis, Davis, Rasmus, Lawrie etc He was then challenged that we would be selling Lawrie at his absolute lowest; and Zaun states that he doesn't see Lawrie's value going up from here. Arencibia - yes Johnson - yes Buehrle - yes Izturis - yes Davis - no Rasmus - yes Lawrie - no
GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Davis - no If we can get something for him, why not?
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Wait untill Lawrie comes back and ups his value, then trade him before he blows out his knee.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
