8D Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 How does this year's "draft class" compare to others? A lot weaker? Jays are usually all over international draft rumors and signings.
8D Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Those two budgets are separate. What I meant to say was do you think the Jays internally alloted some of their international draft budget money towards the MLB roster because the Jays were over budget with salaries this season.

I doubt it, they said quite a few times that money is not a problem if AA thinks we can compete. AA also said quite a few times that they don't touch his draft money and he can spend as much as possible.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 The White Sox have reached an agreement for $ 1.6 million with the OF Maikel Zapata.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Shortstop Yeyson Yrizarri, the No. 7 international prospect for July 2, has signed with the Rangers for $1,375,000.

AA also said quite a few times that they don't touch his draft money and he can spend as much as possible. I guess they really just don't value these prospects all that highly. But then again isn't all about connections with int drafts. If another team has a much better relationship with the prospect's trainer, he's going with that team if the money is around the same as other offers from teams.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 I was hoping we have the best chance to sign who we want based on the amount of Dominican players we have on our roster, but who knows.

Texas signed OF José Almonte US$1.8M Damn! That's 3.175 million and they only had 1.942 million budget plus 971,350 if they trade bonuses with someone. 260,950 over the budget and what are the penalties for it?

I'm thinking the Rangers don't really care this year. They probably figure after next year there might be a Int' Draft so screw it. I wish AA was as aggressive. The penalties for going over your pool space are not that punitive. Sign whoever you want this year, and just trade for pool space next year.

Wasn't there a report saying it will be around 2015/16?
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 If the Rangers sign Diplan that puts them well over 3mm. lol Someone go down to Greek town and wake up Anthopoulous.

ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Wasn't there a report saying it will be around 2015/16? Yeah, likely. But the Rangers are probably thinking, this may be our last chance to spend like crazy and not have to pay a huge price. They don't mind breaking the rules (see Jairo Berras). Heck, they could sign a bunch of nobodies for a lot of money this year from certain trainers and try to get huge discounts on players from those same trainers next year as a quid pro quo.
imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Blue Jays are usually link with so many players. What happen this year?

imsorry4beatinU Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 15 percent or more over pool: 100 percent tax on the pool overage. Team won’t be allowed to sign a player for more than $250,000 during the 2014-15 signing period. So that's all the Texas Rangers Penalties if they go over. Not that bad of a Penalty at all and like Ace said, they could easily just give money to a trainer now and maybe next year they could get a 600-900 k players for the 250 k next year?
flafson Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Miami are amazing, i wonder how long before they sell their prospects for nothing. Maybe we can get some of our prospects back...
ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 The Jays have been connected to Freddy Rodriguez, but I hope they sign Nestor Tejada (both trained by Carlos Guillen) instead. I know it's hard to evaluate stats at this level but Tejada hit as well as Barreto did at the 15U World Championship this year and finished as a tournament All-Star for his position. Now he doesn't have as much raw power as Rodriguez but the kid can absolutely rake. Barreto 33ab .515/.568/.978 3hr 12rbi 2(2b) 2(3b) 2bb 4so 8sb 0cs Tejada 25ab .520/.629/.1080 2hr 13rbi 4(3b) 4bb 5so 4sb 0cs

ace3113 Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 lol Texas probably said trade us your cap space and we'll trade you one of these prospects back in a few years after they bust.
