I've always said this, well sort of, the Jays need to get on a run and at least keep the buzz around the team and get people to the gate. It's my biggest fear at the moment concerning the Jays and Rogers. The Birds will be getting an extra 25 million in revenue and it's hard to say what they'll have in mind. AA will be employed until at the very least of Nov/14 as he's Beeston's guy. If they can squeeze more money all the better, who knows? They blew pretty much everybody off their feet this past off-season in concerns of revenue. I hope they get the financial help they need lad, or it's going to get ugly fast.

If AA has any plans of saving his job he will need more money plain and simple. The state of this teams current contracts and arbitration eligible players will leave him with nothing to work with if there isn't extra money. At this point they really only have 2 options; push forward and go for it (additional funds required) or blow it up and rebuild (almost no chance of this happening).

I would think there will be some funds to work with and if it isn't enough I bet he empties the farm.

Heck all his buddies are on our club........who's to say he doesn't come here?!?! We all kinda said this with Ortiz though, lol.

I am not sure I completely buy into this "no one wants to play here bs". I am sure it is very relevant, but I don't think it applies to everyone. Fact is the Jays haven't really been big FA players in a very long time and that likely is the bigger reason why.

It's no secret the Jays went all in this year and now everyone knows it. Sure it didn't work out at all, but this team has some significant players and a couple key additions could get this team on track for the short-term.

Cano is going to be 31 (at least) before playing a game under his new deal. I wonder how the Angels feel about being locked in to the Pujols deal until 2021?

AA is going to be a desperate man this winter. He might as well f*** this team for the next decade in an attempt to save his job with a post season appearance or two.

Not really, if the brass give em cash. Who knows.....you said I was crazy when I predicted our revenue go up to 115....although it was said tongue in cheek.

I don't get how people think Rogers isn't cleaning up financially with the Jays. They use them to market their products and essentially have to pay them nothing since they own the Jays, the networks, etc, etc, etc.

It's more a matter of how much more value they think they can gain for every dollar spent since its not just a baseball operation.

I really hope he's not allowed to do this. Hopefully payroll is maxed out at $125 million so he can avoid crippling contracts and then get fired when the team wins 75 games next year.

I think it's going to be higher than that, but like I said who really knows. I just find it hard to believe they spend the way they did only to penny pinch the year after.

Players want to play on a winner period Vik, I eye witnessed it in my late teens to early twenties, everyone wanted to come to Toronto, because of what they built.

Yup, and if FA's believe the Jays have something here they will at the very least have some interest. At this point it comes down to what kind of finances AA has to work with. If AA doesn't have the money then this team will have to pray for excellent health in 2014 and we likely see a regime change at the end of that year. That being said, I am sure Beeston doesn't want to go out as the bumbling fool who headed this ship right into the ground. I bet he urges ownership to anti up.

They're comfortably making HUGE DOUGH hidden behind the ownership.......TV rights and viewership alone they're robbing and stealing.

Exactly. This team is a marketing tool as much if not more than it is a baseball operation to Rogers. If spending on FA's gets Rogers the marketing exposure they desire then I assume they will. Additional gate revenue is just an added bonus.

How do you even go to ownsership and ask for money after this season? They increased payroll by 50%, and will likely still finish under 0.500. I can see us maybe going to 140, which would let us retain our roster, but I can't imagine them getting the green light to spend more than that after this debacle. AA was apparently at his limit at the end of the offseason.

Well they knew it would have to go up just for the contract structures and arbitration cases. If they didn't account for additional needs then they are absolutely retarded even more so than I thought.

Agreed.....lets cross our fingers and toes it brings in a few years of sustainable winning and a WS!! *I'm getting ahead of myself, lol*

It's either that or another long stretch of meaningless baseball.

I'm pretty confident in saying Rogers had no idea about stuff like that when they OK'd 125. I could see Beest and AA saying "let's win now and worry about all that when the time comes".

Then I hope they both get fired at the end of this season. Those two bumbling idiots messed up some significant progress this team had made.

I'm 30...Cano had pubic hairs four or five years before me.

Not to mention the venue has been long paid off for peanuts.

Yup. Rogers has this s*** wrapped up tight. Only way they don't make money is if AA and Beeston move up the ladder, lol.

It's a phrase we say in Dominican to refer to someone's age.

Cano should have about 32 or 33

Guys, you have to admit it's also easy being an armchair GM. Especially in retrospect.

*Obviously* we should have:

Kept Aaron Hill

Signed Yu Darvish

Traded for Justin Upton (Arencibia, Nicolino, Romero to Arizona)

Kept Syndergaard and Sanchez

Drafted Manny Machado

Gotten rid of Arencibia and kept Mathis and D'Arnaud

What a team and farm we would have. With a payroll 20M less.

But it doesn't work like that. No one knew that would have made the best team. You're lucky to have more than half your big moves work out. And this group has lots going for it. They've just dug themselves too deep of a hole.
