o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I agree with you, but I'd say he at least succeeded in putting together a winning team in Buffalo...gotta give him that. this board could probably field a team that could win some AAA games. not that impressive. lol
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 this board could probably field a team that could win some AAA games. not that impressive. lol Lol, maybe, but just saying at least all the playing time AA gave to all the AAAA players is paying off....unfortunately, it's in Buffalo.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 True--didn't help the Jays had their hands tied--Janssen was not available, and they would've needed to use a starter or a position player if the game had gone any further. No surprise they're looking to get some fresh arms.
digiblader Verified Member Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Andy LaRoche isn't in the lineup either--he may be on standby in case of a Lawrie DL stint.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 oliver may be at the end of his rope...he is old as dirt and now with injuries should not be counted on as much...thank goodness loup and cecil have stepped up. Delabar has walked 16 and hit 2 in 27 innings. He won't be a viable reliever with the command he's shown this season. ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 I don't think AA will call up guys that are performing well in Buffalo unless he can send them back there without losing them. Guys like Negrych, Jimenez, Gomez and others were signed to help keep the promise (yes another promise), AA made to the Bisons' owner. This, at least in part, explains why a guy like Negrych, who's a Buffalo native, hasn't been given a chance with the Blue Jays. I don't think Wagner would be called up unless he has options, which I doubt he does.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 this board could probably field a team that could win some AAA games. not that impressive. lol Dibs on "old fat guy who sort of switch hits but is terrible from the left side of the plate and who is a defensive liability anywhere but first base!"
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Dibs on "old fat guy who sort of switch hits but is terrible from the left side of the plate and who is a defensive liability anywhere but first base!" So, basically "old, white Mike McDade"
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Dibs on "old fat guy who sort of switch hits but is terrible from the left side of the plate and who is a defensive liability anywhere but first base!" kids: mrs smith can johny come out and play baseball. Mrs Jones: you know johny has no arms or legs, how is he supposed to play baseball? kids: he cant, but we need something for second base.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 As bad as the Dickey and Buehrle trades were imo, where would this team be without them? Morrow will probably miss a significant amount of time so that will leave only the 2 old geezers standing. I hope I'm wrong about Morrow, but his velocity has been up and down all year, I wouldn't be surprised if the injury had simply not fully manifested itself till now. Remember, JJ had some minor bicep issues that turned into a month+. I also expect Janssen to go on the DL soon. All of this obviously means that things may get worse not better.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 As bad as the Dickey and Buehrle trades were imo, where would this team be without them? I dunno, more in last place?
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I dunno, more in last place? Jays are already making 28 teams look good, so I guess it would be 29 instead?
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Don't understand the point of this link. Delabar continue to use his Splitter more often than the slider.
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I dunno, more in last place? LOL. Hey, had just got home from work when I posted that! And to answer my own question, they'd have a heck of a farm system and financial flexibility to be able to acquire younger, quality pitchers than they got. Then again, AA would just trade or sign middle relievers.
oakville69 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 AA and his container diving obsession. Gotta wonder if AA and the wife look through their neighbors trash cans to see what's for dinner. That made me laugh. Luckily AA has a compliant media that doesn't question wha he did to Sean Nolin other than Hayhurst.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Then post Delabar's page instead of all relief pitchers sorted by slider% lol. I was just comparing the effectiveness of his pitches with the rest of the relievers.
Shogun89 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 AA could pay me big bucks to pitch. I've got a nasty 60 mph high heater all up in the zone, and random control issues where I can't throw strikes for long stretches.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 AA should draft me. I'm left-handed and have had fairly serious pitching injuries. I'm pretty much AA's dream.
kgm1 Verified Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 They DFA Ortiz to clear a roster spot but expect him to report to Buffalo . right now with ortiz having pitched today won't be available so they sent him down and get another long guy up . Ortiz will be back

I've got a nasty 60 mph high heater all up in the zone, and random control issues where I can't throw strikes for long stretches. I'm former catcher and CF. Yesterday I was throwing from a mound and I have some gas in the tank (77mph fastball, 64mph curveball)
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 lol aren't you still in high school? Tommy John? I pitched a while. But it came from dodgeball. Was playing a f***ing intense game of dodgeball, put everything I had into a throw, nailed a kid whom I hated in the face (I had pretty good accuracy), felt something pop, and my arm went dead. It's slightly less serious than what Dustin McGowan had - elbow tendinitis, torn rotator cuff, and shoulder inflammation. ~10 weeks of physio. Not fun, lol.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 That's terrible! I also worry when I play dodgeball, makes your arm hurt. My high school only had a softball team, so I've never really gotten to play much real baseball. I have a pretty good arm though, love long-toss. How hard can you throw? I managed to hit 65 or so on a gun at Comerica last year. You should probably just lie about that story. No matter how hard you try, a dodgeball injury just will not sound cool. Generally, I tell it as the very last pitch of a perfect game, and I hit 100 MPH on the gun for the strikeout before being greeted at home plate by my girlfriend, the entire cheerleading team.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Worth it? 100%. I was a terrible pitcher and hate that kid.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 @Wilnerness590: I'm thinking like Vargas and Schwimer. #Bluejays #Jays @evilsalty: @Wilnerness590 predictions on who gets promoted for weber and Ortiz?
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I don't know, where do people go to get clocked? I can long-toss a football field (~330 ft.), supposedly that's decent. --- The kid got the last laugh though! I think there are some guns at the Rogers Centre, it's probably juiced by a couple miles though.

Caper Verified Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Michael Schwimer is in the game now. ANd then he was pulled.... he threw 2 pitches.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 ANd then he was pulled.... he threw 2 pitches. yuck
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Did Hayhurst actually question it?! He threw a pen across the studio in disgust.
