oakville69 Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 After Yunel's 2 run HR in the 9th inning, he made a "I am safe" gesture when he crossed home plate. He waved his arms at the fans . He looked angry in the dugout. It seems that he was upset at the fans for booing him throughout the game. Maddon was not pleased with his actions. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/baseball/rays/rays-escobar-irks-maddon-with-showboating-after-home-run/2122080 Should the Jays do anything about this tomorrow? I liked Yunel when he played for the Jays. The Maricon incident was dumb, but someone in the clubhouse, ( Omar Visquel ) should have told him to take it off.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) I was at the game, yhe fans got so mad when he did that... He's a pro athlete and he should learn to handle the boos... they boo any ex player.. he just made it really personal now Edited May 21, 2013 by Dylan
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 It's the type of action that historically deserves a pitch in the ribs tomorrow as a reminder about basic baseball etiquette. Whether we should do something about it or not, I don't know. It may depend on the game situation. It certainly had me pissed off when I saw it. Some people were also saying that he had something written in his eye-black again. I don't know if that's true or not, but I'd love to know what it said if he did.
oakville69 Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 If you read the article you would realize the situation has already been dealt with. Maddon said hes going to talk to Yunel about it. Janssen said he had no issue with it. Problem solved. If they throw at him tomorrow it would just be incredibly stupid. I did read the article. He seems very upset about the booing. After the Maricon suspension last year he wasn't booed very much. I liked Escobar as a Blue Jay. He was booed more lustily than I expected. Will fans boo Aaron Hill ? Yan Gomes? Jayson Nix ? Johnny Mac? if the Diamondbacks show up at Rogers Centre.

Johny Mac was a class act. Most fans don't remember gomes and nix and I bet Hill would get booed. Yunel was a cancer the entire time he was on the team, i was glad when he left.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Hard to say.....if one of the pitchers didn't like it, he might get one in the ribs if not tomorrow, maybe down the road. I doubt it though. I hope they don't throw at him, we'd just be dropping to his level. lol

Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I'm obviously bias against yunel but it was his lack of hustle that really made me dislike him.

Kinda embarrassing they boo pretty much every ex player. I don't get the point.
Dylan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I think yunel is the only player I've ever booed. and Arod.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Most Toronto fans boo every name they on the other teams that they actually know. That's why they only boo the Ex-Toronto players.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Lets face it, Yunel isn't that smart of a person. Letting the crowd get to him is a sign of mental weakness. You have to feel sorry for people like him. Yunel liked playing for the Jays, he was hurt when they traded him. There is no need to pitch to him, it's over with.

Wow, a manager who takes care of things before they become a problem. I wonder what that's like?

o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 What, you don't like the Gibbons style, wait later then you get to punch them out ? Gibbons would do more, but how do you bench a player when you have no bench??
DwightDM Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 IMO Yunel is the easiest out on that team right now. No sense putting him on for free. Take the high road, win the game and move on.
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Yunel was run out of Atlanta, given a second chance, and then was run out of Toronto because of immature/pathetic behaviour. He's a disgraceful public figure. An 8 year old would know not to put something like that on their eye black. Continuous lack of effort. Always sulking. I don't care if he was buddy-buiddy with Jose and Edwin. He's a cancer.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Well if their going to hit him today, could be playing with fire with the great Ramon Ortiz on the mound.

JugglingPitches Verified Member Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 If it gets to him that much, the fans are gonna boo him louder for the rest of the series and the Jays should throw him NOTHING he can hit because he's a selfish player and he's going to swing for the fences whether it's in the zone or not to try and show up the fans.

Some boo players because they weren't that nice of guys more than their actual play..which is the case in Yunel's case. Some boo ex players no matter what.lol. When you talk Hill, Wells, Overbay, Johnny Mac....they were good guys who may have played poorly at times, but not due to lack of effort. These type of guys I would never boo....

And I didn't like that at all Vernon loved Toronto, and he played well here. And he was traded - not his choice. And he wasn't happy about it. he didn't deserve to be booed. Although booing a Yankee is a bit understandable in my view, the general ignorant treatment of the former players is down right embarrassing. All they're accomplishing is giving the opposition more motivation to beat us and that's exactly what's happening.

This is like the Valdespin indecent, and I'm going to have the same opinion. I don't like that we are going to bean him for something stupid that he did and something he got s*** for from the manager, but based on recent history, he will get hit. Will a Ramon Ortiz pitch hurt him though? lol
