declan_44 Verified Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Casey f***ing Janssen, doesn't need an explanation Steve Delebar, especially considering what we gave up for him! I am probably going to take some heat for this one but, Melky, his OPS isn't anything to cheer about but as the season goes on, he seems to be getting better and better and considering the contract we've got him on, yes.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Melky is a weird pick, he is performing well below expectations The only ones performing above expectations are Janssen, Cecil and Lind. Cecil and Lind, who would have thunk it? A few guys like Delabar, Rasmus, and Happ are performing as expected, the rest are pretty much underperforming.... its ridiculous
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Janssen - One of the best closers right now Bautista - He's pretty much been himself, high OBP and power Cecil - Clearly the bullpen has done wonders for him Lind - Can't complain about Lind he is getting on base and giving us decent At bats. Power still needs to come around a bit more. I want to say Rasmus but he either looks amazing or ridiculously bad. As a whole the offense is showing obvious signs of turning around and we are really going to need it to endure these pitching injuries.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I don't understand why you picked Delabar who's walking people like Kyle f***ing Drabek. Bautista is obviously performing quite well, which no one seems to realize. Brett Lawrie seems to be turning things around.

Bautista looks like one of the best hitters in baseball in May, great eye, hitting for average and power. OBP over .400 in no time. Janssen = been a monster Lind = Has looked great at the plate, needs more playing time. Delabar, cannot agree with him, he has looked shaky every time out. Reyes before injury was looking every bit an allstar SS. No one else really, most everyone else has played below their norm.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Uh Delabar hasn't been as good as advertised. Certainly not as good as last year. His control is awful. I would put Cecil first before him. Amazing how close he was to not making the team.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Delabar's ERA is only good because he's been brought in for a lot of partial innings. He's been better in May (6 K, 1 BB), but not great on the season. I think Ace is doing a bang on job. he's out performed everyone else without a doubt. http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/366/v46ipy.gif

He's been better in May (6 K, 1 BB), but not great on the season. Delabar obviously has to cut down on the walks..but you can't ignore the 10.6K per 9 innings...he cleans up a lot of those walks by striking guys out...2.05 ERA. We traded Thames for him.....I'd say he's more than doing his part. Lindy...Lindy...Lindy.....he's not only positive but outperforming expectations. He's got an .880ish OPS right now...I'm too lazy to calculate it. Most people would have taken .750 out of Lind at the start of the season...hopefully Lindy can keep it up. Bautista is positive for sure..hardly unexpected though. Most of our bullpen really....loup, cecil, Oliver, Janssen, delabar all 3.00 ERA or less....definitely solid. On the cusp of turning from liability to positive....Melky for sure..his body of work for the entire year is not totally positive..but he's on fire and I assume, same for Edwin and Lawrie is a bit further off but in this camp....JPA and Colby are pretty much where I expected...Offense and bullpen looking formidable.....just have to get the rotation going...wasn't really expecting that pick up to come from ortiz and jenkins...but what the hell...I'll take it!
Iluvbjs Verified Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Ramon Ortiz- a beast I never realized we had! LOOOL Bautista- Jose is Jose and you gotta love him Casey- What a gem. Love seeing this guy pitch every single time out. No nonsense, straight to the point pitcher. Lind- OPS is very good for him. If his power comes around, this team is going to be very difficult to stop EE- Good power numbers and he's getting his patience back....err, if it's possible to lose it This team has formidable offensive potential. Guys like Rasmus, Lind, Lawrie, JPA, all have 20-25 hr numbers to put up and EE and Jose 40+. That's 6 out of your 9 guys. If Reyes and Boni get some games behind them and do what they're capable of doing, it's no wonder the hype behind this team was so enormous. Not even mentioning Melky yet because I'm not sure what he'll be post Juice. The last 4 games are just a glimpse of what an offensive juggernaut this team can become in a ballpark built for offense.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Bautista. Just because so far it looks like the wrist is fine. Patient power hitter, who can lead by example. Doesn't need to win MVP, just needs to stay healthy and be a top 10 ops guy. Has done exactly that so far. It's a positive because of the questions surrounding the wrist.

Too lazy to calculate it? http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lindad01.shtml But for real the best thing I've seen this season is a 17BB/12K out of Lind... I honestly would never have expected this and its wonderful.

I honestly would never have expected this and its wonderful. Lind and his rebuilt stance and swing is getting results one year after much of the tinkering was done. I was expecting much if this in 2012 and it sure didn't happen until after returning from Vegas. Fast forward to this year and he is all Yoga conditioned and simply much healthier. There's no talk of fatigue or old lingering back problems. And now the power is starting to come too. The real kickers to all of the early success is that he has had bad luck with balls in play and should be hitting around .310 currently. The second is that the stance, position in the batter's box and later swing/ quicker trigger/ more compact approach is by design something that allows for staying on pitches from lefties. The next progression is for him to play everyday. It is too bad that in 2012 he had this stance, positioning and trigger but didn't swing later or look to use all fields until Mottola worked with him in Vegas. The early swings made no sense considering the other adjustments. He was often way out in front and was swinging at balls in the dirt because he was committing far too early. I'm not generally a Murphy blame guy but in this case, you have to fault him for his swing early-swing even earlier philosophy because it didn't mesh with anything else the player was doing.

Not a who is in my avatar and poster all over my bedroom thread lol. Lawrie is nowhere near that yet, just he gets a few hits in the last few games. Lol Btw You're not allowed to retaliate. You have to lay down and take it. This is exactly what happened yesterday when I stated my opinion on something then spunky insulted me from nowhere. By your reasoning, Rasmus should be on this list too because of his defensive solidarity. Plus his been way more proficient than Lawrie so far at the plate. Not only are you an idiot, but you also seem to give in easy without all your little buddies here. I can't stay here all night like you, my girl's about to come over. From now on you shall henceforth be known as Gordie the hypocritical dumb f***ing lap dog lmao.

Both love the bare hand moneymakers.

I remember the days of Nix/EE at 3rd and having someone who can play 3rd so damn well is great, reminds me of the Rolen days.

Sure beats the Troy Glaus days. I still shudder at the thought of him playing SS during interleague games. He looked like a villain from Scooby Doo out there.

I'm well aware of baseball reference...but at the time I posted his .OPS stats didn't include the homer, single walk game which pushed it up to that .878 level.
