CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 What a roller coaster. This team needs MB to step up big time.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 You know, I got to commend Romero for all his talk about confidence and saying "he deserves to be here"..but seriously, all he does is talk and his body language and mentality show otherwise. This s*** has been going on for more than a year now. The guy needs to accept that he has to show he's a major league pitcher. His numbers has shown he isn't anymore. Yet the guy has the balls to go to the media and probably the front office and tell them that he's good.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 AA needs to clean this mess up asap and bring some stability to this team.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 For starters,AA should call up Thole and Negrych and send Bonifacio and Machete to Buffalo(not sure if they have options or not). Although they aren't starters, they both are better options and we get rid of Boni's stupidity. I don't understand why we are paying Thole $500,000 more than Machete, who is clearly the better option,to play in Buffalo. AA seems lost right now. Time to swallow his pride and do what is right for the team.

Hemingways007 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Last start, Romero looked really good for the first 3 innings and he looked confident and happy. After he walked the first batter in the 4th, you could tell something changed, the confidence he garnered throughout the first 3 innings disappeared. While this may be a mechanical issue, unable to throw the pitch over the plate, I have that feeling that he just is not mentally stable, he doesn't believe in himself and has no confidence in his abilities.

Yet the guy has the balls to go to the media and probably the front office and tell them that he's good. Ricky pitched 1 game in a ball in all of april and then gets rushed up. He looked okay in his first outing...not so good last night. It was the 2 walks that killed him last night. He left the ball over the plate on one of the singles, but the other 3 were actually pretty good pitches and rather bad luck. He was rushed up and pitches 4 innings and now they send him down. It's ridiculous. For a guy who's primary issue is his mental game and confidence you are sending him down after 4 innings. What happens if they ever bring him up again...he's going to think every pitch will have to be perfect and the same thing will happen. AA screwed this one up big time. He should have either given him more time in the minors to get some work in down in the minors prior to being called up, or have been given more rope to work things out up with the big club.
Hemingways007 Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I agree in calling up Negrych and Thole, can't hurt.

Agree We're not going to win any games with pitching unless Dickey or Morrow is starting Every other game we're going to need to score 10 runs. Better juice up the offense.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Dammit it pisses me off that Buerhle has been so bad FFS dude step up and give us a good game!!!

Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 MB, Dickey and morrow have to carry the team or they are doomed. RR should never have been called up so quickly, terrible decision.
Slade Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I thought for sure they would give him one more start but things have been going pretty horrible. I gotta assume Jenkins will get the call for the next start?
baconpancakes Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 wow, we are going to turn into the yankees(without the wins) very fast at this rate. A bunch of medium to large contracts for players that no-longer, or never did, help us at all. It is a crap shoot whenever you offer any contract, but with decent scouting you would think that we would be on the good end of the hammer once in a while. I think our vision was clouded with Reyes, and now that he is gone, we are left with bloat and seemingly no way to salvage the season. Damn, i hope this doesnt turn into a fire sale....I would like to see if JJ can come around.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Ricky sez: - “I don’t see it as a step backwards,” Romero said after his outing, the shortest of his career. “The statistics don’t show that but you hold your head high. … “I know this is where I belong and I’ll continue to say it, I could care less what anybody thinks. I can’t forget what I’ve done, my track record isn’t very big, but you can’t forget what I’ve done the past four years, either. This is one of those things you wish you had the answer to but you’ve got to keep going out there and learning about yourself.”
eastcoastjaysfan Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Someone needs to punch Buehrle in the face if he blows up again.
Metallijay Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Someone needs to punch Buehrle in the face if he blows up again. lawrie would be game, i'd say, just take away his redbull he be raging.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Yaaaaay Storey! f*** Ortiz though. These guys are just LRPs right? Ortiz isn't starting?
Arkadium Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Someone needs to punch Buehrle in the face if he blows up again. Agreed, or hold his dog hostage until he pitches a perfect game again?
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Ramon Ortiz? This guy is as bottom of the barrel as it gets.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 So what's our rotation now? Dickey Morrow Buehrle Ortiz Johnson if he's alive/some guy if he's not Jesus tap-dancing Christ Well they say JJ will be back end of May, but its certainly not something we can take there word for with their history if deception. AA needs to go find us another SP who might at least have a shot of putting up a solid outing here and there. Ortiz I think we can all agree is highly unlikely to ever do that.
CHRIS Verified Member Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I like Olerud_363's idea of stretching out Loup/Lincoln, or Jenkins if he's able to handle the workload. It would be nice to have someone that holds even the teensiest amount of upside. I find tossing guys out there that were running on fumes years ago to be very irritating.
Chappy Community Moderator Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Lincoln would be the better choice to stretch out imo and it may very well come down to that. Or perhaps a BP game.

Morrow doubtful for his next outing.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Now designate Rogers and get Wagner up here too. Wagner is crazy good when he's on. He has shown for years that he's inconsistent as hell. I don't think he can be this suddenly unhittable guy he's been in Buffalo, he's always given up solid contact. He certainly can pile up the the K's though. He's not a long term solution IMO, but then again no one appears to be.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 That's going to be a tough thing to do so early in the season, as I'd be surprsied if anyone but the Marlins and Astros are willing to sell. Which leaves us with the following possible options: Bud Norris (28 - 3, arb2, arb3, FA) Ricky Nolasco (30 - 11.5, FA) Kevin Slowey (29, 750K, arb3, FA) Nothing on that list is attractive. Norris will cost more than he's worth, and is a #5 starter in the AL. Nolasco won't come cheap, and will walk for nothing after the season, and paying sticker price for Slowey's weirdly good performance isn't an attractive option. Aaron Sanchize + Stroman for Kevin "CY" Slowey
