The first sentence is retarded but Adeiny at SS and Reyes at 2B would be more valuable than Boni at 2B and Reyes at SS, plus Mathis > JPA (LOL) behind the dish, so I'd be fine with this.

Caper, this was a bad trolling lol.

I didn't word it the best ... But I was talking about Hech not being a good offensive ss. I would like to see him there... and Reyes at 2b

I think I'd actually rather Hech at 2B in that scenario as a good deal of Reyes' value comes from the positional adjustment.

Big-ish News

http://www.bluebirdbanter.com/2013/6/14/4430680/who-would-you-play-at-second-when-jose-reyes-returns

As well, John Gibbons has said that, when Reyes does come back to the lineup, Jose Bautista will stay in the two spot and Edwin Encarnacion in the three spot of the order.

EE cleanup would be better but nice!

Bluebird Banter: (with Bonifacio's first name corrected by me)

As well, John Gibbons has said that, when Reyes does come back to the lineup, Jose Bautista will stay in the two spot and Edwin Encarnacion in the three spot of the order. It is the right move, but I didn't expect it. Gibbons, you are making me a fan.

Anyway, our question of the day is: when Reyes returns, who should play second base?

The choices are:

Emilio Bonifacio: Emilio has been terrible, he has a .208/.237/.315 batting line, a -0.5 WAR. Fangraphs has him at a 1.0 UZR/160 which is ok. He made his first error since April 10th just this week. Occasionally I think that his bat is coming around but it hasn't. I'm not sure it will. Over the last two weeks he's hit .160/.192/.160.

Munenori Kawasaki: He's been somewhat better, has a .214/.329/.275 line, and a 0.4 WAR. His defense at short has been ok, Fangraphs has him at a -1.5 UZR/150. The last couple of weeks he has hit .174/.321/.217. He's fun, but unless Alex can be bribed by Kawasaki Super PAC money, I think he'll be the odd man out.

Maicer Izturis: Another disappointment. He's hitting .215/.253/.299 and has a -1.4 WAR. He has a -20.3 UZR/150 at second base, but that's in just 209 innings. Over the last couple of weeks he's hitting .237/.275/.263. He's been playing mostly 3rd, filling in for Brett Lawrie, but Mark DeRosa could play there. DeRosa has a 0.1 WAR.

I can't really believe I'm saying this, but vetrin presents may not be a bad option at 2B.

Yeah they had it wrong. LOL. I corrected it after I copied and pasted and realized it was wrong. You quoted me before I fixed it. :)

Who cares about the value from positional adjustment, especially if they're both in the lineup? Put the players in the position where they help the team most.

As for the lineup, I'd rather see Lind bat third (or if his bat cools off then Melky) just to keep the R-L splits, but it's not that big a deal either way.

Reyes

Bautista

Melky

EE

Lind

DeRosa

Rasmus

JPA

Boni

Melky really has no business batting 3rd... When Reyes comes back, I'd like to see him batting 9th as the "second leadoff guy"

was just about to ask the same thing, who cares where his value comes from when you're worrying about winning games

Maicer is better than this

Kawasaki can field and at least get on base. If usee properly he is a useful bench player

Rajai makes Boni useless as a PR.

Boni, by literally having no baseball abilities or use, is the odd man out

Would anyone trade for him? No other way he leaves.

I vaguely recall a Tommy Hanson-Bonificio rumor. That would have been nice.

Apparently, AA already said Kawasaki would be sent down once Reyes comes back. If it was up to me I'd keep Kawasaki and Izturis.

Oops. I didn't realize someone had already posted the info on his good speedy game yesterday

BTW, how does he decide how many flexed arm emoticons he puts in any given tweet? Is there a system?

Could he be ready for the O's series?

That would be huge.

Seems like it

Would like a report on his fielding...

That makes me beyond happy...

Well for what it's worth, Buck said he thinks he could be back Friday. Obviously nothing backing that claim up, but based on where Reyes is right now, that seems like a legitimate timetable.
