burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 And why would they listen to them? Don't let your imagination get the best of you Lol obviously they wouldn't. It was more of a joke than an actual thing but there is a reason Pompey didn't make certain teams and it had to do more with the Parents than the player himself.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Tim Locastro 1-2 with a BB and a HR (three run shot). The kid is on fire.
metafour Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I'm not saying that he sucks. The position, age, and hit tool all seem nice. But it's not like he's having a breakout or anything 4 for 4, 2 doubles, HR. From a 19 year old SS. The two doubles came off 1st round pick Jack Flaherty.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Pompey with a HR and an outfield assist in his first game with NH.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 I could see them trying to call the GM saying Dalton is ready etc... Chances are many family members do that for many players. When i was in the army family of half the people would do that and call their commanding officers trying to get them into better positions, that's how the world goes these days.
flafson Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Are you talking about Pompey? A month and half of struggling is not enough of a sample to give on him. It's true but you just never know with prospects, it could go both ways.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 It's true but you just never know with prospects, it could go both ways. Stop it
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Urena with one heck of a day. His power numbers have really surprised this year. Hopefully he can develop a approach as he gets more time in the Minors. Really encouraging stuff from a kid who is only 19.
baubau Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Pompey with a HR and an outfield assist in his first game with NH. Kid is just destroying the league. Time to move him up to AAA!
Caper Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Who is that old guy that pitched for Dunedin today? That's a good line, 11ks in 7 innings.
King Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Guad Chavez had another good start in the DSL today, 4IP 5H 1ER 1BB 5K
Laika Community Moderator Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Doesn't matter. If the spreadsheets don't say he's good he isn't. Why is this comment necessary?
ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Pompey re-united with Stubby Clapp, who was the hitting coach for Dunedin last year and is with NH now.
SaskJaysFan_2 Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 It's not my opinion, it's what some here have said so I'm just going by that. I was told this when I asked when Boyd would be promoted to Buffalo. Maybe they're sending him down to AA so he can focus on baseball since he's so close to his family in Buffalo. Who knows, but they might be mishandling him. History shows that can certainly mishandle a solid prospect. Snider readily comes to mind. But now that I've read some comments, they want him to be reunited with his old batting coach, and get him away from the TO area. Makes sense.
metafour Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 History shows that can certainly mishandle a solid prospect. Snider readily comes to mind. Does history really show that, or is it something people just like to fall back on when a "top prospect" fails?
metafour Verified Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Urena with another double and a walk already.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Does history really show that, or is it something people just like to fall back on when a "top prospect" fails? It's f***ing June of the first season since Pompey jumped from A to the MLB. Nobody is worried about him being a "failure" right now.

I wasn't talking about Pompey at all, just in general and specifically referring to Snider who people still seem convinced we "ruined" by calling up a year early. I don't buy it.

I don't buy it. Well, Snider has had a fairly solid MLB career since we shipped him off for nothing, so it's not unreasonable to say that he was mismanaged here...
TwistedLogic Old-Timey Member Posted June 7, 2015 Posted June 7, 2015 Nice to see Tellez doing well, wonder how long before he gets a promotion.

GD Old-Timey Member Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Giolito 17 and DJ Davis 22 was the original plan, but im ok with Stroman over Giolito I don't think so. I remember there being reports that we would have passed on Giolito. I wanted Giolito/Gallo so bad lol. That was just a stacked draft class, really hard to make a mistake there.
metafour Verified Member Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I don't think so. I remember there being reports that we would have passed on Giolito. I don't remember any such reports. I think that Giolito would have been a near lock for us. Injuries have never scared this regime (see: Clinton Hollon, Patrick Murphy). A big part of the DJ Davis pick that a lot of people seem to look past is the fact that he was an under-slot guy which ultimately gave us more freedom to get creative later.
