GD Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Minor league hitting is different from major league hitting. Wow, our friendly neighborhood Frag back on the main boards?
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Why was Pompey sent back down to New Hampshire
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 A bit premature. Perhaps. Doesn't change my opinion that they have done a near perfect rebuild, though
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Perhaps. Doesn't change my opinion that they have done a near perfect rebuild, though How? they basically have no pitching. What if they trade the wrong young player for a pitcher that shits the bed.
SpeedyGose Verified Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 How? they basically have no pitching. What if they trade the wrong young player for a pitcher that shits the bed. It's well known that hitters are better for longevity. The bust rate is also higher for pitchers than position players It's a great rebuild because they can always do the opposite of this season. Trade a high rated hitting prospect for prime starter when they need it.

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 As I understand it they plan to blow a wad of money on pitching. Lester and Price, amazing but silly. Might work

Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Castro's getting some weak swings, swings and misses on the change up from what I hear
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Inning ending DP saves Castro after walking Vogelbach. Wasn't sharp that inning
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Mitch Nay has his second High A hit
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 D-Jays just scored three runs for Castro
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Castro struck Billy Mickinney on three pitches, third pitch being a change up
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Imagine a 2015 New Hampshire rotation of Osuna, Castro, Cole and Boyd
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Easy 5th inning for Castro, strikeout and two groundballs outs
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Sounds like a pretty good start so far. Struggled some with the control in the 4th inning other then that damn good start
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 something like 68 pitches in 5 innings
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I think he'll be in the same position as Daniel Norris right now, at this time next season. Seems reasonable? He's throwing strikes. they say he looks poised and ready to go after every pitch. Great competitor
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 If Castro tightens up that Slider, I think he'll be better then Norris
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Mitch Nay has had three good at bats, 1-2 with a bb
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Not unreasonable. Castro has top of the rotation upside. I wasn't comparing the two pitchers I was saying that next year, Castro will possibly start in Dunedin, spend time in New Hampshire and finish in Buffalo. Just like Norris this season. At this point if he has a good instructional and spring training. I wouldn't put it past the jays to send him to New Hampshire for the entire year
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 Might be Castro's last inning, gave up two hard hits. 1 out so far
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 26, 2014 Posted August 26, 2014 5 2/3 innings 80 pitches 3h 2er 3bb 3so 8-4 go-fb, He's done
