There's no evidence to suggest the Jays are on average more aggressive with promotions than other teams. Their policy of two full seasons in rookie ball and short season ball for position players is pretty much identical to many other teams, it might even be slightly conservative. In the upper levels guys who are vastly outperforming their peers are being moved slightly faster than guys who are merely doing well, Pompey vs Nay for example, but this is everyone else does it.

I'm guessing a lot of people have problems with the Pompey promotion but its justifiable, he's got an advanced approach at the plate(12% career walk rate) and he's not really "breaking out" like people think he is, the only time he's ever struggled in his minor league career was in the first half of 2013 when he was just coming off of surgery. He was drafted a year ahead of Blake Swihart, you could argue he's been a better hitter than Swihart and they're both at the same level now, that's pretty much the norm for how quickly good hitting prospects move through the system.

Almost 12 K/9 for Norris

Thank you for blessing Daniel with these fantastic talents Jesus. Much appreciated.

I hear Norris is going to repay Jesus Christ's love by retiring from baseball and becoming a priest.

He is reverend Tim Tom from the middle, or maybe Tim Tom's younger brother.

AA was at the top row aisle seat in the same section as Lacava.

Ok Damn I didn't look up that high. LaCava was in the middle of the 2nd row of the seats where all the scouts were right?

Some of these promotions may be an attempt by AA to show his bosses that he's rebuilt the farm. On the other hand, some of them are legit promos so who knows.

I just noticed Pompey has played CF in both his games at Buffalo. I bet Gose noticed a little sooner than I did.

Dwight Smith with his 10th of the year, amazing how underrated he is among the usual prospect watchers

I think we're all disappointed he hasn't been moved to 2B. Seriously though, I thought he might get a promo to AA after Pompey was promoted to AAA, but nope. I'd think he deserved to be promoted more than Nay did, but who knows...

La Cava came up briefly to talk to AA and then went back down. Looks like I will be going to the final home game on Tuesday...Norris is scheduled to pitch again. I also noticed that Gose played the last 2 games in right with Pompey in centre....message being sent? Can't blame him for being frustrated with guys like Tolleson, Francisco and Kawasaki staying up with the big team while he keeps getting jerked around.

Any word on why Pillar has not been in the lineup the last 2 games?

Was at the Bison game tonight(along with AA) and Norris did not have his normal fastball...he sat around 88-91 He had a devastating curve however and the only hit was a homerun off an 89 mph fastball that was in the heart of the plate. No other ball was hit hard. I saw him in Dunedin in April and he was throwing mid 90's...may be getting tired but still impressive.

Could be anything. I was in Cincy a couple years ago and Chapman topped out at 100.

Re: Gose in RF, it could just be to give Pompey more reps in center, it probably isn't to say anything about Gose's play. The org already knows that he's an excellent defender, so they keep Pompey in CF to see him out there and also add to his value.

I think I'm going to head down to the Bisons game on Tuesday.

Buffalo (Daniel Norris) vs Pawtucket (Henry Owens ) on Fan appreciation night and Pompey most likely the starting CF. Can't get much better then that for an 11$ ticket.

Anyone else going to go?

I wouldn't disagree with much of what you say here, if at all. Only thing I would say is that for me, they already know or at least consider Pompey at least a good defensive CF, the fact that they played him in CF over Gose tells me that they view Pompey as the CF of the future ahead of Gose.

It's really no big deal, I think Gose is now viewed as a 4th OF type and if Pompey can continue to develop and become an everyday CF, that would be huge so it makes sense that he'd be the starter at CF.

I thought I read that Norris had already made his last start of the season.

f***ing nuts to think Gose is a 4th OF. He has a .350 OBP this year in a sizable MLB sample with GG defense, and still has upside. I can see him being a consistent 3 WAR OF as a starter.

Crazy to think, but unless AA doesn't sign Melky, that's what Pompey will make him.

Melky gonna want multi year guaranteed..... too risky

I'd rather have Gose than Melky, given where this franchise is headed

I'm speculating of course. It is looking like Gose/Pillar platoon next year in CF, but we'll have to see what happens. I hope Pompey starts next year at AAA and is given more time there, but you never know with this team...

I'm not sure about that. Melky is a true blue professional hitter and plays a passable LF.

"given where this franchise is headed"

whats the point of paying Melky $12M+ when the team is not a contender (not enough pitching, aging core). put Gose out there and let him max out his potential whatever that is

So why are we not considered a contender for next year? With a few good moves this winter ( signing Melky being one of them),we are in this.

Melky does not play a passable left field, he's actually one of the worst in Baseball, this is one those things where the eye test and the stats align perfectly.
