flafson Verified Member Posted July 2, 2013 Posted July 2, 2013 Deadpool, I agree on the starting, definitely. However, since he has never really been a reliever at any point in his career. Other than a few relief appearances his freshmen year in college, he has been a starter his entire career going back to high school. It would be interesting to see if his velocity sits 92+ in relief appearances, as that wasn't the case as a starter. My guess is, the only reason he was drafted in the 28 round is because of his velocity, if he can work on that (the velocity program) and still keep his command then he could have a bright future, specially with his height.

Bear in mind the Jays like to piggyback starting pitchers in the same games as other starting pitchers since there's just not enough games for them to actually start all their starters. Add in that he might be on an innings limit after throwing in college this year so their just might not be that many innings for him to throw. I think as long you see him throwing 2+ innings, even coming in relief, the Jays probably still see a chance at him being a starter
BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Stroman 13 ks tonight in 6.2 inn and only 1 bb

StevieRay Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 is Gabryszwski considered a GOOD prospect? Just going by stats, he is doing everything except striking ppl out.
beachbum Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 That is strange. I wonder if something happened Vega was only in the system for a couple years and was the organizational player of the year a few yrs ago

Sucks that it happened to the Lugnuts though. Also, that's a gorgeous stadium in Lansing.

Mikeleelop Verified Member Posted July 3, 2013 Posted July 3, 2013 Osuna is getting lit up again today. 5 hits and 4 runs in first inning. 2 strikeouts though He doesn't seem right since the time off. Can a TJ announcement be coming?

Can a TJ announcement be coming? They should just get it over with. He was dominant before and even a couple of starts after coming back from resting the elbow. There's no doubt in my mind his struggles are tied to the elbow problems.
bluejaysfan Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Reed Johnson 2.0 I looked it up and Brenden Kalfus went to the same high school as Reed Johnson in Southern California. I think Kalfus has better tools though.

ElNik2013 Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 So AA said Aaron Sanchez was fine and they'd cut him loose. Well, I guess cutting him loose means going from 3 to 4 innings, I know it's about pitch count, but boy does this organization baby its pitchers. Nolin and Stroman should be in AAA. I know Sanchez missed a month, but at this pace, he'll take longer to develop
BabbaGanoush Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Nolin with another very strong start in AA. 6.2 inn, 7k, 2bb, 0 r
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Pillar 2/4, including his third home run in four games. Maybe we can trade him for an 18 year old in AAA batting .081
theblujay Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Author Posted July 4, 2013 We don't want anyone who can hit, we want the ones with the most projection and potential.
flafson Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Can't believe we actually have a proven prospect with track record that can hit. Usually all our farm is hearsay.
bluejaysfan Verified Member Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I'm thinking Lance Berkman. Switch-hitting outfielder with a sweet swing and decent power. Know what he's doing at the plate. I think you are right. Brenden's stance is more like Chipper Jones but he will probably project more like Lance Berkman. Either way, these are great hitters to be compared to. BKal has put up solid numbers at every level and adapts quickly.

Brenden Kalfus, the 2013 draft pick out of the loaded West Coast Conference won the batting title! He can flat out hit from both sides of the plate!

Kalfus has a proven record. And does anyone care about the pitcher that Kalfus and his teammates on the Canadians are going to face tonight? 1st round pick who already tested positive for Adderall, a banned performance enhancing substance! Every major professional sport bands this. Hockey has a zero tolerance for it. And no one even cares anymore? I though the MLB was cleaning this up? BKal has a solid history of performing against the top draft picks while in college and it should continue here in the pro's. The Canadians are an offensive force!

When you test positive for a banned substance in MLB and MiLB, but you aren't in either of those leagues at the time, it's pretty hard to expect repercussions.
